  • Patent number: 7341527
Abstract: A golf putter including a head which has detachably fastened to the body thereof a face plate provided with a plurality of striking surfaces which are selectably and interchangeably oriented by a player to a forward facing use position, the striking surfaces each having different ball-impacting characteristics, e.g., rebound factor, hardness, and/or frictional characteristics. In one embodiment, the face plate has flat front and rear parallel surfaces in which are fitted inserts with different ball-impacting characteristics, the face plate being attachable conformally to the front face of a putter head body with a selected insert in a forward-facing use position by a pair of screws inserted through holes in the face plate in opposite sides of the inserts and tightened into a pair of aligned threaded bores which extend perpendicular into the front face of the putter head body.

  • Patent number: 6695708
Abstract: A golf putter includes a polyhedrally-shaped head having a plurality of generally vertically disposed ball-impacting faces which have different ball impacting characteristics and a shaft having at the lower end thereof a hosel terminated by a prism-shaped lower shaft end that has a polygonal transverse cross section. The head has protruding perpendicularly downwards from an upper surface thereof a centrally located bore having a polygonal cross section of the same shape but slightly larger than that of the prism-shaped end of the hosel, which is inserted into the bore at a selected angular orientation relative to the head to position a selected ball impacting face in a conventional ball-impacting disposition relative to the shaft grip, and releasably secured at that position by a screw inserted through the sole of the head and tightened into a threaded bore provided in the hosel end.

  • Publication number: 20020198060
Abstract: A golf putter includes a polyhedrally-shaped head having a plurality of generally vertically disposed sides, which comprise ball-impacting faces, at least one of which faces has a different ball impacting characteristic such as composite rebound factor, hardness and traction control, than that of another face. The putter includes a shaft having at the lower end thereof a curved hosel terminated at the lower end thereof by a vertically elongated keyed shaft end that has a polygonal transverse cross sectional shape.

  • Patent number: 6287215
Abstract: A golf putter is provided in which the lie and/or loft angle thereof may be semi-permanently but reversibly adjusted by a golfer prior to playing, to suit the individual golfer's stance, swing dynamics, playing skill and/or condition of the greens on which the golfer intends to play. An adjustable lie/loft angle putter according to the present invention includes a hollow tubular shaft and a head coupled together by a reversibly bendable coupling element which preferably is fabricated from a relatively ductile metal such as stainless steel which is formed into an elongated, hollow tube which has a circular cross section. A first, upper longitudinal end of the coupling element is insertably received in the lower opening of a bore within the shaft, while the other end of the coupling element is attached directly to the putter head or to a hosel protruding from the head.

  • Patent number: 6270422
Abstract: A golf putter which aids a golfer in aiming a putt and avoiding twisting of the shaft in the hand during a swing includes a head provided with a pair of laterally spaced apart trailing members which protrude rearwardly of the rear surface of the head and function cooperatively as weighting/aiming members. The trailing members are preferably located equidistant from a vertical center plane through the sweet spot of the head and have in plan view longitudinally directed visual features perpendicular to the front ball-impacting face of the head, which assist a golfer in visually framing an intended initial ball trajectory to a target hole on a golf green, along with a ball impact vector perpendicular to the center of percussion or sweet spot of the head. Each of the trailing members is preferably laterally symmetric, and may include a longitudinal index line marked on the upper surface of the member, to facilitate visual framing of a putt.

  • Patent number: 6227986
Abstract: A golf putter in which both the tactile response and ball launching characteristics may be independently varied over relatively wide respective ranges includes a head in the face of which is formed a stepped cross-section cutout portion which receives a stepped cross-section insert. The putter head includes an outer insert lamination which fits into a complementarity-shaped front recessed portion of the cutout, the outer lamination having an outer generally flat face flush with the front face of the head. Inwards of the recessed portion of the cutout in the front face of the putter head is a pocket adapted to receive and enclose from exterior exposure an inner insert lamination.

  • Patent number: 6029321
Abstract: A support strap for hand tools, hand guns and other hand-held implements having a pistol grip-type handle includes an elongated strip of flexible material having a ring attached to a first transverse end of the strip. A first fastener member is attached to the lower surface of the strip, proximate the second transverse end or tip of the strip, and a second fastener member releasably engageable with the first fastener member is attached to the upper surface of the strip. The strap is used by inserting the tip of the strap through the ring to form a first, wrist loop, into which loop the hand is inserted, and the free end pulled with a tension sufficient to tighten the loop to a desired tightness around the wrist of a user. The inner diameter of the loop is preferably slightly less than the width of the strip, thereby frictionally gripping the edges of the strap.

  • Patent number: 5674132
Abstract: A golf club providing improved control of distance and direction of a golf ball impacted by the club includes a resilient insert having a controlled rebound factor fitted into a recess provided in the face of the club head. In the preferred embodiment, the insert comprises one or more thin laminations, each having an intrinsic rebound factor and thickness selected to yield in combination an overall composite ball-impacting rebound factor that may be varied over a relatively wide range of rebound factors, preferably which are an approximately linear function of desired travel range of the impacted ball. Also in the preferred embodiment, the inserts are made of a material in which the hardness may be varied somewhat independently from rebound factor, thus allowing construction of a club having a desired ball-impacting feel as well as selected rebound factor.

  • Patent number: 5580051
Abstract: An adjustable putter having an elongated straight shaft terminating in an adjustable gear linkage which mates with a corresponding adjustable gear linkage which is affixed to a hosel, which is in turn connected to a putter head, thereby providing adjustment in a plane which is parallel to the hitting face of the putter head. Such an adjustability feature enables the golfer to vary the angle of the shaft relative to the putter head, while complying with golf regulations such as those disseminated by the U.S. Golf Association. In a preferred embodiment hereof, a tool for permitting the adjustment of the putter is stored in the top of the gripping portion of the shaft. A preferred embodiment is implemented with a gear linkage having an external diameter that is no greater than the hosel of the putter head.
