  • Patent number: 5860514
Abstract: An actuator mechanism for alternate action switching devices having at least two states includes a housing structure and an actuator member slidably engaged therewith. In order to move the switching device between states, the actuator member has a contoured surface that moves along and remains in constant sliding engagement with a correspondingly contoured surface on the housing. A biasing member urges the actuator surface into the housing surface throughout operation. This provides noiseless operation of the switching device.

  • Patent number: 5575177
Abstract: A turn signal cancellation mechanism has an actuator and a pawl engagably interfacing therewith. In one aspect of the present invention, the pawl is disposed on an opposite side of a steering shaft from a handle interfacing segment of the actuator. In another aspect of the present invention, a unique pawl movably engages with a modified T-shaped slot within an actuator. A further aspect of the present invention provides a modularized system wherein a common housing interchangeably retains differing circuit boards, pivoting actuators coupled to handles, and various switches, depending on the specific options desired. In still another aspect of the present invention, a detent plunger has a shaft with a quadrilateral cross sectional shape along a portion thereof and an integrally formed semi-spherical cap. An improved fastening means is also employed to attach the present invention turn signal cancellation mechanism onto the steering column.

  • Patent number: 5145404
Abstract: A switch terminal board cover 20 (FIG. 2) is molded from a non-conductive material and consists of a base 21, a spacing edge 22 with retaining latches 24,25 and an opening 23, and a plurality of projections 26 disposed on the base. The projections 26 are sized and positioned such that they form a plurality of slots which prevent excessive movement of and contact between electrical leads 10, thereby preventing electrical shorts from occurring, and help maintain the integrity of electrical terminations 12 of a switch 11 (FIG. 3).
