  • Patent number: 6565274
Abstract: A diverter is integrated into a printer apparatus having a feed mechanism for feeding the sheet from a supply location through a printer mechanism to a collection location, and a presenter mechanism for drawing the sheet from the collection location to a discharge location. The diverter is pivotably mounted between the printer mechanism and the collection location so that the diverter is movable by contact of the sheet with a first surface of the diverter. The diverter is gravity-biased to a neutral position in which a second surface is aligned to receive the sheet from the collection location and direct the sheet to the presenter mechanism. In a preferred embodiment, the diverter includes a generally triangular-shaped body, with a pivot axis and a center of gravity offset from the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 5768965
Abstract: A cash drawer assembly includes a housing having a drawer slidably mounted therein which receives a till containing compartments for storing cash. A cutter in the form of a flat plate is removably trapped laterally between the till and the drawer, and includes a bottom edge abutting the drawer bottom, and a top edge positioned above the till for providing a cutting edge for opening a coin roll. The cutter is hidden when the drawer is closed, and is accessible when the drawer is open for convenient use.

  • Patent number: 4958797
Abstract: A device for protecting a plastic tray wall of a compartment of a till tray when a user breaks a wrapper of a coin roll by impacting the coin roll against the tray wall. A generally U-shaped member, which is made of metal or plastic, is mounted on a tray wall of a plastic till tray while grippers located on opposed legs of the U-shaped member retain the member on the tray wall. A user then breaks the wrapper of the coin roll by impacting the coin roll against the U-shaped member, thereby releasing the coins for depositing into a compartment of the till tray. A second embodiment of the device includes a ridge formed thereon to facilitate breaking the wrapper of the coin roll.

  • Patent number: 4901205
Abstract: A housing for containing a plurality of circuit boards in a compact arrangement includes upper and lower housing portions which can be secured to each other by easily releasable securing devices. A first circuit board disposed on a base surface of the lower housing portion, and a vertically disposed bus circuit board mounted in a frame on the upper housing portion and having connectors electrically engageable with receptacles on the first circuit board. A plurality of horizontally disposed additional circuit boards having connectors electrically engageable with horizontally disposed receptacles secured to both sides of the bus circuit board, at least certain of the additional circuit boards having a width extending outwardly from the connectors which is greater than the vertical distance between the first circuit board and a portion of the upper housing portion.

  • Patent number: 4873850
Abstract: A drawer assembly which prevents a drawer from "jamming up" in a locked position when the drawer is slammed shut while a locking arm associated with a key lock on the drawer is in a locking position. A projection on a retainer clip located on the inside of the front panel of the drawer keeps the locking arm from being bent, and also keeps the drawer from moving to the closed position from which a latching mechanism asociated with the drawer would be placed in a locked position.

  • Patent number: 4811579
Abstract: A manually operated release mechanism includes a spring actuated latch mechanism for latching a cash drawer within an enclosure upon movement of the cash drawer to a closed position. A rod member rotatably mounted adjacent the latch mechanism extends to a position adjacent the front edge of the enclosure. A drive member located adjacent the front edge of the enclosure has two cam surfaces, one of which is positioned adjacent one end of the rod member. When the cash drawer is in the closed position, a key actuated locking assembly on the cash drawer moves the drive member to an actuated position which engages and rocks the rod member to a position releasing the latching mechanism from engagement with the cash drawer. A depending tab portion of the cash drawer engages and slides the drive member to a home position upon opening of the drawer. The locking member disables the cash drawer from being operated by a solenoid mounted within the enclosure structure when moved to a locking position.

  • Patent number: 4803346
Abstract: A business machine assembly such as a cash register includes a plurality of hook members secured to the lower surface of the cash register positioned within corresponding slots in a support member. A cash drawer is slidably mounted within the support member between a open and closed position. The cash register further includes a pair of depending stop members secured to the lower surface of the cash register and positioned adjacent the rear edge of the cash drawer when the cash drawer is in a closed position blocking movement of the cash register on the support member thereby preventing the hook members from being disengaged from the slots when the cash drawer is in a closed position.
