  • Patent number: 8234524
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method to record trace data in a way that significantly reduces the time required to search for specific events, to create an index, to create a histogram, or to analyze the protocol. During capture, the analyzer recognizes infrequent events and sets an Event-Present Flag (“EP Flag”) indicating that a specific event has occurred. The trace is divided into pages, with a separate set of Event-Present Flags for each page indicating whether an event occurred in that page of the trace. This division of a trace into separate pages results in significant efficiencies.

  • Patent number: 8130826
Abstract: Preparation of network data for analysis. An original frame representing a frame transmitted in a communications link can be received wherein the original frame comprises a payload. At least a portion of the payload can be removed from the original frame. Statistics can be inserted into the original frame to generate a modified frame. Original frames can be removed and not transmitted to an analysis system. A modified frame can represent several original frames that are removed. Additional frames can be generated. A frame can be generated that represents several original frames that have been removed. A generated frame or modified frame can indicate errors and/or preprocessing by a logic device.

  • Patent number: 7664041
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for directing data transferred in a network to multiple analysis processors for network analysis processing. A network processor is configured to receive network data transferred in a network link. The network processor is configured to transmit the network data and a path control signal to a distribution module coupled to the network processor. The distribution module is configured to receive the path control signal and receive the network data from the network processor. The distribution module is further configured to route the network data to multiple outputs based on the path control signal received. A plurality of analysis processors are coupled to the distribution module for receiving the network data from a different output of the distribution module. Each analysis processor analyzes the network data received by the analysis processor for errors, purposes of detecting or measuring errors, performance, security, compliance, statistics, or patterns.

  • Publication number: 20070253474
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating an eye-diagram and performing network analysis for a signal. A signal can be sampled to obtain a set of signal samples. A maximum and minimum signal sample can be identified from the set of signal samples. The target can be calculated as a midpoint between the maximum signal sample and the minimum signal sample. This target can be used to sample the signal and construct an eye-diagram. A network protocol analyzer is also used to perform network protocol analysis of the signal. The eye-diagram and network protocol analysis may be shown together in a single display.
