The suspension column includes a mechanism for receiving tires and other wastes with an energy value onto one of the supports and feeding the tires to an adjacent downwardly disposed support to further gasify the same under low oxygen to preclude combustion. The column is configured to provide for a number of zones including heating, drying, volatizing, and fixed carbon formation which are collectively referred to herein as a “fractionation process.
