  • Patent number: 6800310
Abstract: An improved, low-fat cereal product contains clusters of base cereal comprising crisp, friable cereal preferably principally or all crisp cereal comprised of crisp rice, flaked cereal and/or puffed cereal. The clusters are prepared by binding together a plurality of crisp cereal pieces by applying in sequence, liquid oil, dry binder mix and a liquid sugar mixture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 9, 2002
Date of Patent: October 5, 2004
    Assignee: Kraft Foods Holdings, Inc.
Inventors: George M. Squire, Dale W. Cox, Elizabeth L. Walker, William P. Citarella, Christopher Kallgren

  • Publication number: 20030076983
Abstract: Two separate white light illuminated images are acquired of a plate of food. The image data is processed, and the two images are compared to determine volume of particular food zones. In parallel to that, the food type in each zone is identified by a food recognition processor nd reference to a stored nutritional data bank. These two values are combined with the foods' nutritional value in the data bank to provide zone-by-zone nutrient content information. These can be individually displayed, and/or the total displayed so that the user knows the nutritional value of the food on his plate in terms of total calories, percent fat, percent protein, and percent carbohydrate. In addition, the approximate milligrams each of principal vitamin, mineral, fiber, enzyme and phytonutrient on the plate can be displayed sequentially. Provision is made to download data into a PDA or PC.

  • Patent number: 5860942
Abstract: A handpiece has a cavitation orifice therein. A pump supplies water from a reservoir through the cavitation orifice to produce cavitation in the water downstream from the orifice. This cavitation produces OH radicals and ions in the water flow. The water flow is directed onto dental surfaces. The OH radicals and ions have been proven effective against bacterium.

  • Patent number: 5494585
Abstract: The water remediation and purification method includes a cavitation nozzle which is operated with a throat size and pressure drop to incur cavitation in the water. The explosive and implosive bubble growth and collapse produces free radicals which interact with contaminants in the water to oxidize the contaminants. The cavitation process is enhanced by (1) a variable throat nozzle, (2) recycling the product back through the nozzle for further oxidation, and (3) programmable control feedback. Subsequent ultraviolet radiation from high energy lamps, ion exchange and/or degassifying treatment can be employed to produce water quality within acceptable levels.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 1994
Date of Patent: February 27, 1996

  • Patent number: 4064203
Abstract: Air-circulating device having an upright tube or passage and a fan for drawing warm air downward from adjacent the ceiling of a room and discharging it adjacent the floor thereof is provided with a liquid reservoir and a wick, with the wick positioned so that the circulating air blows thereover to provide air freshening and humidifying. The reservoir may be adjacent the tube above the fan or may be adjacent the fan outlet. A further modification provides a charcoal or other type filter in the air stream to remove odors, such as cigarette smoke, etc.
