  • Patent number: 5562188
Abstract: An air bleed valve (40) includes a valve base (42), a valve cap (44) and an O-ring seal (46). The valve base (42) includes an inner threaded portion (58) that screws into a threaded bore (12) in the wall (14) of a linear actuator (16) and an inner end conical sealing surface (54) that is in sealing contact with a valve seat (18) in the linear actuator. A bleed air passage (48) through the valve base (42) is in communication with the linear actuator through a smooth walled bore (20). A valve cap (44) screws onto the outer threaded portion (64) of the valve base (42). When the air bleed valve (40) is closed, the conical cap valve surface (72) closes the bleed air passage (48). A conical cap thread protection sealing surface (96) is contacted by cap thread sealing surface (102) on a deformable flange 100 to protect threads 64 and 68 from corrosive materials.

  • Patent number: 5351363
Abstract: A poppet valve cleaner 10 includes a frame 20, a poppet valve brush assembly and a carriage assembly. The poppet valve brush assembly includes a drive motor 32 and a pair of cup shaped steel wire brushes 44 and 46 driven by the motor. The carriage assembly includes a carriage support shaft 54 and a carriage plate 64 that is pivotally and slidably attached to the carriage support shaft. A chuck assembly 86 is mounted on the carriage plate 64. A drive roller 138 is mounted in the side walls 88 and 90 of the chuck assembly and is rotated by an electric motor 144. A valve stem 14 is positioned between idler rollers 96 and 98 and compression roller 108 that is biased toward the idler rollers by a compression spring 134. The idler rollers 96 and 98 are driven by drive roller 138 to rotate the poppet valve. The carriage plate 64 is manually movable to position the valve head 16 between the steel wire brushes 44 and 46 and to move surfaces of the valve into contact with the brushes to remove carbon from the valve.

  • Patent number: 4756181
Abstract: A method of making and using a tool for use in locking and unlocking a load-enveloping chain binder, the tool being formed by cutting off the front end of a cylindrical pipe section at an acute angle to provide a leading edge on one side of the front end and an opposite trailing edge. One side of the pipe section is creased rearwardly of both the leading and trailing edges to form an axially sloping, internal, piloting and stop projection against which the handle of the chain binder is received, and while simultaneously squeezing the lateral sides of the pipe pipe section to provide a handle rearwardly of the internal projection.
