  • Patent number: 7654923
Abstract: By providing a plurality of cylindrically shaped tube members nested together in coaxially aligned relationship, with each tube member being connected to a separate and independent control segment, with the control segments being constructed for raising and lowering the associated tube segment, an easily produced, reliable, dependable, and highly portable telescopically extendable and retractable multi-element system is realized. In the preferred embodiment, each control segment incorporates a separate endless loop drive belt which is cooperatively associated with a pair of pulleys mounted at opposed ends of the segment. Furthermore, each control segment is interconnected to the endless loop drive belt of an adjacent segment for causing all of the segments to move simultaneously in response to the initial movement of a first control segment.

  • Patent number: 6938894
Abstract: A top registration transport mechanism and method for a mailing machine is provided. The transport mechanism includes one or more displaceable rollers that have a diameter larger than the drive/idler rollers. A semi-elastic belt is looped around the drive/idler rollers and displaceable rollers. The larger diameter of the displaceable rollers causes a portion of the transport belt in the area of the displaceable rollers to be slightly raised. The registration plate can contact the raised portion of the belt to displace the belt and displaceable rollers, thereby ensuring that very thin mail pieces can be effectively processed by the transport. As thicker mail pieces traverse the transport, the displaceable rollers can be further displaced before the entire transport mechanism must be displaced to maintain registration of the mail piece against the bottom of the registration plate.

  • Patent number: 6702151
Abstract: Apparatus and method for displaying bulk items and selectively dispensing a designated quantity of the bulk items from a multiplicity of the bulk items upon demand includes containing a multiplicity of bulk items in a volume of the bulk items within a bin and simultaneously conveying bulk items in a horizontal direction toward one end of the bin, adjacent the bottom of the bin, and in a vertically upward direction, adjacent the one end of the bin, to move bulk items from the volume of bulk items to an elevated dispensing outlet, in response to a demand, while at the same time tumbling the bulk items within the volume to separate the bulk items from one another for delivery of the designated quantity of individual, discrete selected bulk items to the dispensing outlet.

  • Patent number: 5729817
Abstract: An accent color printer for printing on a continuous web of material has spaced apart drums, and a flexible continuous belt positioned around the drums. The belt defines a transport path having an arcuate portion at one of the drums. A platen cooperates with the belt to define a curvilinear print region for said transport path. An input module positions a continuous web onto the moving belt. Print heads positioned adjacent the belt print accent colors onto the web at the print region. An outfeed module removes the web from the belt at arcuate portion of the transport path and tensions the removed web whereby the web forms a capstan wrap with the belt at the arcuate portion of the transport path. The capstan wrap results in the tension in the web at the printer region being increased from the tension in the web removed from the belt.
