  • Patent number: 9551214
Abstract: A method for determining the complex response of a permeable stratum at the bottom of a producing well, the well comprising a well head fitted with an outlet valve and the bottom of the well comprising a height-adjustable pressure and flow rate sensor, comprising the following steps: periodically altering the degree to which the outlet valve is open, and, while the alteration is in progress: —measuring the pressure and flow rate in the well at the top/bottom of the stratum for a certain number of periods of alteration, after a certain delay; and —measuring the pressure and the flow rate in the well at the bottom/top of the stratum for a certain number of periods of alteration, immediately after the positioning of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 7257491
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of evaluating the hydraulic potential of a porous stratum defined between two depths zlow and zhigh, the method consisting in generating periodic modulation in the rate of flow from the well, in lowering down the well and in activating for a few periods at the depth zlow a measuring PLT sonde, in extracting from the resulting measurements the amplitude ?Qlow of the sinusoidal component of the flow rate modulation relating to one of the imposed periods T, the amplitude ?Plow of the sinusoidal component of the pressure modulation relating to the same period T, and the phase delay of the pressure sinewave relative to the flow rate sinewave ?low, in determining the response R low = ? ? ? P low ? ? ? Q low ? ? - ?? low in raising the sonde to depth zhigh, and in determining the complex response R high = ? ? ? P high ? ? ? Q low ? ? - ? ? ? ? high in calculating the complex response

  • Patent number: 6801857
Abstract: Methods and devices for determining the quality of an oil well reserve or the like delivering a given fluid derived from a productive layer, by measuring the response R of the well. The method implemented by the device comprises modulating the fluid flow rate (4) in the well (1) by a sinusoidal function with a controllable preventer (5), and measuring the variations in flow rate and pressure of the fluid respectively with a flow meter (7) and a pressure sensor (9), the response Rc of the well (1); if the productive layer comprises a damaged zone having a positive formation damage of non-null thickness, is obtained by the equation (I), and the response Rf of the well; if the productive layer comprises a fracture having a negative formation damage, is obtained by the equation (II). The invention is applicable to oil prospecting.

Abstract: The invention concerns methods and devices for determining the quality of an oil well reserve or the like delivering a given fluid derived from a productive layer, by measuring the response R of the well. The inventive method implemented by the device is characetrised in that it consists in modulating the fluid flow rate (4) in the well (1) by a sinusoidal function by means of a controllable preventer (5), and in measuring the variations in flow rate and pressure of the fluid respectively with a flow meter (7) and a pressure sensor (9), the response Rc of the well (1); if the productive layer comprises a damaged zone having a positive formation damage of non-null thickness, is obtained by the equation (1), and the response Rf the well; if the productive layer comprises a fracture having a negative formation damage, is obtained by the equation (11). The invention is applicable to oil prospecting.
