  • Patent number: 11046112
Abstract: A tire assembly includes an assemblage formed of first and second impregnated woven or knitted structures, a bearing structure, and at least one sacrificial holder. The first impregnated woven or knitted structure includes a first woven or knitted fabric and a first layer of a first polymeric composition. The second impregnated woven or knitted structure includes a second woven or knitted fabric and a second layer of a second polymeric composition. The bearing structure includes bearing elements connecting the first and second woven or knitted fabrics together. Each sacrificial holder is structured to hold temporarily the first and second impregnated structures in contact with each other, connecting the first and second woven or knitted fabrics together. When the first and second impregnated woven or knitted structures are separated from each other, each sacrificial holder breaks before any breakage of the bearing elements.

  • Patent number: 9593266
Abstract: A self-sealing elastomer composition that includes a diene elastomer, a hydrocarbon resin with a given softening temperature, and a liquid plasticizing agent, is manufactured according to a process that includes successive stages. In one stage, the hydrocarbon resin is incorporated in the diene elastomer by kneading the resin and the elastomer in a mixer at or up to a temperature referred to as “hot compounding” temperature, which is greater than the softening temperature of the resin, in order to obtain a masterbatch. In another stage, the liquid plasticizing agent is incorporated in the masterbatch by kneading the agent and the masterbatch in the same mixer or in another mixer, in order to obtain the self-sealing composition. The self-sealing composition then is formed dimensionally.

  • Patent number: 9556329
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a self-sealing elastomer composition, said process comprising the following steps: a masterbatch, comprising at least one diene elastomer and more than 30 phr of a hydrocarbon resin, is firstly manufactured by compounding these various components in a mixer at a temperature or up to a temperature called the “hot compounding” temperature which is above the softening point of the hydrocarbon resin; and then at least one crosslinking system is incorporated into the masterbatch thus prepared, by compounding everything in the same mixer or in a different mixer, at a temperature or up to a temperature which is kept below 100° C., in order to obtain said self-sealing composition.

  • Patent number: 8710140
Abstract: Process for manufacturing a self-sealing elastomer composition, wherein the process comprises the following steps: firstly a masterbatch comprising at least one diene elastomer and a thermoplastic plasticizing hydrocarbon resin with a content greater than 30 phr is manufactured by compounding these various components in a mixer at a temperature or up to a temperature called the “hot compounding temperature” which is above the softening point of the hydrocarbon resin; and then at least one crosslinking system is incorporated into the masterbatch thus prepared, by compounding everything, in the same mixer or in a different mixer, at a temperature or up to a maximum temperature which is kept below 100° C., in order to obtain said self-sealing composition, and wherein at least one liquid plasticizer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) below ?20° C. is furthermore incorporated in an amount of less than 60 phr into said masterbatch or into said composition.

  • Publication number: 20140048190
Abstract: Provided is a pneumatic tire capable of yielding excellent water-draining performance, while reducing air column resonance. This pneumatic tire (1) has a tread (3) and at least one ply (2) arranged toward the interior of the tread in the radial direction. The tread has at least one main channel (4) and a flexible fence (5) formed inside the main channel. The main channel has a bottom (413) and opposing first and second wall surfaces (411, 412). The flexible fence extends along the width of the main channel so as to block at least 70% of a cross sectional area of the main channel, and is arranged at intervals so that at least one is present in the main channel in the tread footprint when the tire rolls. A plurality of recesses having an opening that opens in the main channel are formed on the bottom, first wall surface and/or second wall surface of the main channel, the flexible fence being connected to the recess and extending into the main channel via the opening of the recess.
