  • Patent number: 6088241
Abstract: A connector for interconnecting a plurality of spaced electrical subassemblies in a motor-vehicle door has a basically rectangular flexible foil having a core part and formed with a plurality of strips extending from the part and carrying conductive paths. The strips are separable from one another and foldable to extend to the different subassemblies. The conductive strips and the core part are formed of a flexible and conductive material or of an insulating synthetic resin provided with the conductive paths. This core part has a plurality of different fields each provided with electronic circuit components, for instance a key-pad field, a decoding field, a processing field, an H-bridge field, and a transfer field. The circuit components can be passive or active, for instance whole integrated circuits can be mounted on the core part.

  • Patent number: 6076883
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a body, electrical devices including a controller and a power supply mounted in the body, a door slidable on the body between a closed position and an open position, and electrical devices mounted in the door. The devices in the body and in the door are interconnected by an electrical-cable connecting system that has a nonrotatable pivot pin fixed on the body adjacent the door, a drum rotatable about the pin, and a flexible multiconductor electrical cable wound in the closed position of the door about the drum and having an inner end fixed to the pin and connected to the devices mounted in the body and an outer end fixed to the door and connected to the devices mounted in the door. A winder connected between the body and the drum rotatably biases the drum to rotate in a direction winding the cable onto the drum and urging the door into the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5876087
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a body provided with at least one generally horizontal rail having a bent end portion and along which a sliding door is displaceable between a closed position in against the body and an open position out from the body. A sliding-door assembly has a door drive on the body including a flexible toothed belt extending along the rail and having an end and a link assembly fixed to the door, riding along the rail, connected to the belt end, and engaged in the bent end portion of the rail in the closed position of the door. A guide extends along the rail and laterally confines the belt so an actuator on the body can displacing the belt in one sense and thereby tension the belt and move the door in one direction and displace the belt in the opposite sense and thereby longitudinally compress the belt and move the door in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5836639
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a body, a door movable on the body between a closed position and an open position, an electric power source mounted in the body, and a latch having interengageable parts on the vehicle body and on the door engageable in a latched position to retain the door in the closed position, and an electrical actuator energizable to put the latch in an unlatched position. A drive on the body connected to the door is energizable from the source for moving the door between the open and closed positions and a battery is provided in the door separate from the body-mounted power source. An electronic controller in the door powered by the battery is connected to the latch actuator for operating same to unlatch the door and to a transmitter for transmitting a signal indicating the position of the door and of the latch.

  • Patent number: 5791703
Abstract: An actuating assembly for a motor-vehicle door latch has a handle extending longitudinally on an outside of the panel and having one end coupled to the latch and another end projecting through the panel and provided with a fork having a longitudinally open seat. A backing plate on an inside of the panel is provided with a transversely extending pivot bar engaged in the seat of the fork. The handle is pivotal about an axis of the bar between a rest position relatively close to the door and an outer actuated position pulled out from the door. Interengaging formations on the bar and in the seat block longitudinal displacement of the handle relative to the backing plate except in the rest position of the handle so that when the handle is moved to or beyond the outer actuated position the formations prevent removal of the handle from the door.

  • Patent number: 5785364
Abstract: A motor-vehicle door latch has a door-mounted fork displaceable between an open and a fully latched position and through an intermediate semilatched position and a body-mounted door bolt engageable with the fork and retainable thereby only in the semilatched and fully latched positions. A door-mounted pawl can pivot about a pawl axis between a holding position engaging and retaining the fork in the fully latched and semilatched positions and a freeing position permitting the fork to move freely between its positions. A controller is connected to a servomotor in turn coupled to the door bolt for displacing same between an outer and an inner position so that, when the bolt is engaged with the fork in the fully latched position, movement of the bolt into the inner position pulls a door carrying the latch tightly closed. A switch lever can pivot about the pawl axis.

  • Patent number: 5682135
Abstract: An automotive security system in which an infrared motion detector in the handle recess of a door of the vehicle detects the incipient engagement of the handle by an authorized user to trigger the vehicle transponder into transmitting an interrogation signal. The latter is picked up by a portable transponder on the person of that individual and which then emits a coded answer signal. The latter is compared in the vehicle transponder with a stored code and upon agreement the door lock is released so that the lock release is complete as the user exerts an initial pull on the door handle.

  • Patent number: 5654687
Abstract: An actuating assembly used in motor vehicle having an alarm system, a door having a panel, and a latch has a handle extending longitudinally outside the panel and having one end coupled to the latch and another end projecting through the panel and provided with a fork having a longitudinally open seat and a backing plate on inside the panel and provided with a transversely extending pivot bar engaged in the seat of the fork. The handle is pivotal about the bar between a rest position relatively close to the door and an outer actuated position pulled out from the door. An electrical conductor imbedded in the handle has a pair of opposite ends exposed longitudinally at the fork. Respective contact elements secured to the door are releasably engaged with the conductor ends. The contact elements and opposite ends are positioned such that on movement of the handle outward beyond its outer actuated position at least one of the contacts is separated from the respective conductor end.

  • Patent number: 5617676
Abstract: A motor-vehicle door has an outer skin and an inner skin fixed to the outer skin, forming therewith a cavity, and formed with a cutout. A mechanism holder is releasably secured in the cavity at the cutout. A latch is secured by a horizontally effective slide mount on the holder and can move via the mount horizontally on the holder and be fixed on the holder in any of a plurality of horizontally offset positions thereon. A detent engaged between the slide mount and the latch releasably secures the latch in one of the positions. The slide mount includes a pair of interfitting and horizontally extending rails respectively fixed to the holder and to the latch.
