  • Publication number: 20200320872
Abstract: A method to schedule intelligent traffic lights in real time based on digital infochemicals (DIs) is disclosed. The method takes advantage of DIs as medium to both predicate traffic flow and smooth the green/Cycle (g/C) ratio. First collect DIs, then update DIs by three actions including aggregation, evaporation, and propagation. After that, adjust the g/C ratio of the traffic light. DIs have the function of prediction due to the propagation that allows DIs reach the traffic earlier than the real traffic flow. On the other hand, DIs have the function of memory due to the evaporation that remembers the information of the historical traffic flow. The prediction and memory of DIs, as the reason why DIs are superior to the pure traffic flow, give the DI-based intelligent traffic light compelling advantages over the pure traffic based intelligent traffic light.

  • Publication number: 20200322643
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for processing video. An encoder implementing the systems and methods described herein may receive video data comprising a plurality of frames and may partition each frame of the plurality of frames into a plurality of coding units. The encoder may then partition a coding unit into two or more prediction units. The encoder may determine, based on one or more coding parameters, a target bit rate, and characteristics of a human visual system (HVS), a coding mode for each of the two or more prediction units to minimize distortion in the encoded bitstream. The encoder may then determine a residual signal comprising a difference between each of the two or more prediction units and each of one or more corresponding prediction areas in a previously encoded frame and then generate an encoded bitstream comprising the residual signal.

  • Publication number: 20200321363
Abstract: A method of measuring morphological characteristics of a laser annealed film having a crystalline structure, which is defined by at least one row of side-to-side positioned grains each having a length (Lg), which is uniform for the grains, and width (Wg), wherein a length of the row (Lr) corresponds to a cumulative width Wg of the grains and creates a diffraction of various orders of diffraction, the method includes generating a monochromatic light; training the monochromatic light onto a surface of the laser annealed film at an angle varying in a range between 0° (incident) and grazing angles; and measuring variations of properties of the monochromatic light diffracted from the surface, thereby measuring the morphological characteristics of the laser annealed film along the length (Lr) of the one row.

  • Publication number: 20200315787
Abstract: A method of treating a native mitral valve without open-heart surgery is disclosed. An expandable prosthesis includes an anchoring portion and an occluding member coupled to the anchoring portion. The prosthesis is loaded into a distal end portion of a delivery catheter and is advanced through a femoral vein and through a pre-made puncture in an atrial septum. The anchoring portion self-expands within the left atrium for anchoring the occluding member in a fixed position. The anchoring portion is preferably a laser cut structure that conforms to the left atrium and uniformly distributes anchoring forces within the left atrium. After deployment, the occluding member prevents blood from flowing from the left ventricle to the left atrium during systole. The occluding member is preferably made from a flexible material, such as pericardial tissue.

  • Publication number: 20200319159
Abstract: We disclose an in-toilet urinalysis system which includes a system for collection urine and for analysis of urine components using aptamer technology. Urine collection system may dispense urine into cuvettes, channels, or other containers that include aptamers. The aptamers may detect target molecules in urine. The aptamers may measure urine analytes, detect excreted drugs or drug metabolites, or disease markers. Upon binding to the target molecule, the aptamers may produce a signal which a sensor in the toilet may detect. In some embodiments, the signal may be electrochemical, fluorescent, or colorimetric. The measurements obtained from analysis of the urine may be used to assess a user's health or diagnose disease. In some embodiments, the measurements are stored in a controller which may transmit the measurements to a healthcare provider for assessment.
