  • Publication number: 20200210542
Abstract: A computer simulation system is configured to display to a user a graphical user interface to allow the user to import experimental test data, identify a material model that includes one or more parameters to be calibrated during a material model calibration process, perform an iterative optimization process to calibrate the material model, the iterative optimization process uses an optimization algorithm that enforces a constraint based on Drucker's stability criterion across one or more predetermined strain ranges to generate a calibrated material model, assign the calibrated material model to a component of a simulation model based on input from the user, a real-world equivalent of the component being made of the physical material, and perform a simulation that includes the component, the simulation using the stable material model and stable set of parameters to simulate response of the real-world equivalent during the simulation.

  • Patent number: 9965574
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for performing a finite element simulation. Embodiments of the present invention determine accurate contact simulations. A method according to the principles of the present invention begins by obtaining a first finite element model and a first computer aided design (CAD) model that the first finite element model represents. Next, a finite element simulation is performed using at least the first finite element model and the first CAD model. According to an embodiment of the present invention, performing the finite element simulation comprises determining one or more variations between the first finite element model and the first CAD model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 2013
Date of Patent: May 8, 2018
    Assignee: DASSAULT SYSTEMES SIMULIA CORP.
Inventors: Harrington Hunter Harkness, Dan Cojocaru, Daniel Alexander Reece
