  • Publication number: 20230346454
Abstract: An electrosurgical generator arranged to supply radio frequency (RF) energy to fuse tissue is provided. The generator is arranged to supply RF energy through a removably coupled electrosurgical instrument to fuse tissue grasped by the instrument. The generator monitors a phase angle of the supplied RF energy and adjusts or terminates the supplied RF energy based on the monitored phase angle in comparison to predetermined thresholds and conditions to optimally fuse the tissue. The electrosurgical instrument conducts radio frequency energy to fuse tissue captured between the jaws and a blade to mechanically cut tissue between the jaws. A conductive post positioned on the jaw adjacent to the blade.

  • Publication number: 20220192489
Abstract: A system and method quantify light exposure of a patient retina during an ophthalmic procedure. A light source illuminates the patient retina with directed light during the procedure to produce an illuminated retina surface. A camera collects image data of the illuminated retina surface. An electronic control unit (ECU) in communication with the camera and an indicator device receives the image data, calculates a cumulative energy spectral density of the directed light falling incident upon the retina, and executes a control action indicative of possible light toxicity in response to the cumulative energy spectral density exceeding a light toxicity threshold, including activating the indicator device. The illuminated retina surface may be divided into virtual zones, with the ECU mapping the cumulative energy spectral density to the illuminated retina surface. Each of the optional zones has a corresponding cumulative energy spectral density.

  • Publication number: 20200309760
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying material aspirated during an ophthalmic procedure. Example systems comprise a first electrode and a second electrode positioned such that aspirated material flows between the first electrode and the second electrode and an alternating current impedance measuring component connected to the first electrode and the second electrode. The alternating current impedance measuring component measures the impedance of the aspirated material between the first electrode and the second electrode, and, based upon the measured impedance, the aspirated material can be identified.

  • Patent number: 7275380
Abstract: A method for determining a fan speed for a fan used to cool a payload is disclosed. The method includes, according to various embodiments, receiving a first signal indicative of a first fan speed and receiving a second signal indicative of a system temperature. The method further includes selecting a temperature setpoint based on the first fan speed and, based on a comparison of the system temperature and the selected temperature setpoint, computing a first fan speed output. A thermal management system and method for determining a speed-setpoint droop characteristic are also disclosed.
