  • Publication number: 20140034346
Abstract: A speed control device for limiting the idle and operating speed of a pneumatic power tool driven by an air turbine (20) and comprising an inlet passage (16) for supplying pressure air at a pressure (P1), one or more nozzles (25) for directing supplied motive pressure air onto the turbine wheel (22) of the air turbine (20), and a speed governor (21) with a movable valve element (43) biased by a turbine speed responsive control pressure (P3) and arranged to control the flow of supplied pressure air from the pressure air inlet passage (16) to the nozzles (25), wherein a pressure regulator (60) controlled by the pressure air supply pressure (P1) is arranged to adjust the control pressure (P3) by adjusting the size of a bleed passage (66) communicating with the atmosphere in response to the actual level of the pressure air supply pressure (P1) such that a decreasing pressure air supply pressure (P1) results in an decreased area of the bleed passage (66) and a following increased control pressure which results in

  • Patent number: 6123996
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aqueous composition for coating, such as sizing or application of a layer of a coating slip, of cellulose-based two-dimensional products. The composition has improved properties at increased temperatures and at high shear rates. These properties are achieved by using as a thickening agent a cellulose ether which is substituted with hydroxyalkyl groups, such as hydroxyethyl and hydroxypropyl, and alkyl groups having 1-3 carbon atoms, and which has a cloud point in the range from 35 C. to 80 C.

  • Patent number: 5010839
Abstract: In a device for alternatively one- or double-sided coating of a running paper web the final evening-out of the coating is made in a smoothing nip including a first roll and a counter member. The device includes means for leading the web from below upwards into the smoothing nip. At a considerable distance before the smoothing nip, there is a coating substance applicator including an applicator chamber, where the coating substance is brought into a substantially non-pressurized contact with the running web for adhering thereto and travelling therewith upwards to the smoothing nip. The web moves linearly from the applicator to the smoothing nip.

  • Patent number: 4945855
Abstract: A coater for coating a running paper or carboard web comprises a coating chamber having one side open against the web and means for filling the coating chamber with pressurized coating substance. The coating chamber is limited in the longitudinal direction of the web by a web entrance wall, and opposite thereof, a back wall in the form of a doctor member for forming a coating layer on the web. The distance between the walls is so short that, at normal web running speed, the web moves from the web entrance wall to the back wall in a time of at the most 0.3 s, preferably at the most 0.03 s. Coating substance is supplied by means of positive pressure to the coating chamber at a position close to the web entrance wall.

  • Patent number: 4679524
Abstract: An apparatus for coating a vertically travelling web comprises a vertical coating chamber defined by the web, a pair of side walls, a back wall spaced from the web, and a flexible blade applied against the web and forming a top closure of the coating chamber. There is a back-up member at the opposite side of the web forming a coating nip together with the flexible blade, through which nip the web passes. A slot at the bottom of the coating chamber forms a web entrance of the coating chamber. The width of the slot and the supply of coating substance to the coating chamber are so adapted to the speed of the web and to the viscosity of the coating substance, that only a small amount of coating substance flows downwardly through the slot during normal operation of the apparatus. The side walls of the coating chamber provide means for substantially closing the coating chamber.

  • Patent number: 4658753
Abstract: A roll blade assembly for a paper coating machine, comprising a frame (5), a support mounted on the frame (5), a blade member (8) mounted on the support (3), a set of mounting accessories (1, 6, 7) for attaching the inner longitudinal end of the blade member (8) to the support (3), a bar unit (9) provided with a rotating metering bar (10) and, attached to the blade member (8), and a pneumatically inflatable loading bag (2) arranged to push the bar unit (9) outwards from the support (3) when the inflation pressure is raised. The blade member (8) is flexible, and the support (3), the bar unit (9), and the blade member (8) form a recess (4) compliant with the loading bag profile and extending in the lateral direction of the blade member (8) over at least 50 percent of the unobstructed blade width. The large inflated bag contact surface makes a more accurate control of the metering bar pressing force possible by directly contacting the blade member.

  • Patent number: 4610761
Abstract: A paper material has been invented that contains cellulose substituted by means of N-methylol compounds. As N-methylol compounds may be used, e.g., reaction products of urea, glyoxal, and formaldehyde, methylolated melamines, and N-methylol-acrylamide copolymers. The paper is manufactured best by impregnating paper with an aqueous solution or dispersion of a N-methylol compound and by drying it at 130.degree. to 200.degree. C. in order to produce condensation. Papers in accordance with the invention have good properties of strength against decomposition and wet strength, which properties can be adjusted readily by varying the degree of substitution or cross-linking of the cellulose. The papers are particularly well suitable, e.g., for the manufacture of plant-growing pots and corrugated fibreboard.
