    Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to the field of medical monitoring, and, more specifically, to a fiberoptic probe for monitoring tissue oxygenation and a method for using such a probe. A non-invasive method of measuring tissue oxygenation includes, in some embodiments, illuminating a tissue surface with a first fiberoptic fiber, receiving light from the tissue surface with a second fiberoptic fiber, measuring the absorption spectra of oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin in the light, and calculating a tissue oxygenation value based on the absorption spectra.
