  • Patent number: 5438619
Abstract: A telephone protector includes a rigid plastic packaged solid state switch which is clamped to prevent the switch from bursting to an open circuit condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 1990
Date of Patent: August 1, 1995
    Assignee: Siecor Puerto Rico, Inc.
Inventors: William J. Shannon, John J. Napiorkowski, Dan Kidd
  • Patent number: 5410596
Abstract: A station protector module contains telephone company terminals and subscriber terminals. The module has apparatus for grounding the module in a network interface device and also has means for grounding upon extended grounding current flow through a surge protector in the module. The grounding apparatus becomes operative upon the melting of a fusible means. The surge protector is a single component bidirectional voltage sensitive switch.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 27, 1993
Date of Patent: April 25, 1995
    Assignee: Siecor Corporation
Inventors: William J. Shannon, John P. DuBois, John J. Napierkowski, Dan Kidd
  • Patent number: 5031067
Abstract: A five pin protector module for telephone circuits comprises two input pins, two output pins and a grounding pin, all on an insulative base. The electrical current path between each input pin and its respective output pin comprises an electrically conductive arm, a current responsive assembly and an electrically conductive helical spring. The module contains a bidirectional voltage sensitive switch which prevents input voltage surges from reaching the output but, instead, conducts them to a grounding member to which the grounding pin is attached.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 16, 1990
Date of Patent: July 9, 1991
    Assignee: GTE Products Corporation
Inventors: Dan Kidd, John J. Napiorkowski, Bruce D. Atkinson
