  • Patent number: 9847658
Abstract: Systems and methods for battery management are disclosed. A system may include an internal control network including multiple node controllers powered by a unique cell or combination of cells of a battery. The node controllers may communicate with each other via a node communication system. Each node controller may be responsible for managing a charge level associated with one or more cells. The one or more devices of the internal control network may enable measurement of environmental factors such as a temperature and a current and voltage applied at the battery. Based on the measured environmental factors, the internal control network may perform an ongoing assessment of the one or more cells of the battery and of an overall battery condition. The internal control network may initiate turning on or off a battery output to prevent over discharge and possible damage to the battery or devices connected to the battery.

  • Patent number: 8137538
Abstract: A compact point of use water purifier intended for both urban and rural areas of developing countries. The purifier is a spigot with an integrated UV radiation source 18 adjacent to an outlet orifice 19 to selectively on demand expose untreated water when the spigot valve 15 is activated to dispense water for consumption. The valve includes a user-activated handle 154 and is configured such that upon initial movement of the handle the ultraviolet radiation source is activated and upon continued movement of the handle the valve is opened. The water purifier is connectable to an electric power source, either 110V/220V AC or 12VDC, via a transformer unit to deliver the appropriate voltage to the spigot unit.

  • Publication number: 20090205972
Abstract: An electrolytic device and method for generating a disinfecting solution that utilizes an electrical circuit and storage battery. The electrical circuit preferably conditions the power received from a variety of power sources to charge the storage battery and conditions the power stored in the storage battery to provide the appropriate power to maximize the disinfection efficacy of the disinfecting solution. The device may incorporate one or more other devices such as an LED, an electrical power takeoff, a clock, a compass, a transmitter device, a receiver device, a position locating device, a direction indicating device, and/or a camera.

  • Publication number: 20050129563
Abstract: A method of producing parts from powdered metal comprising the steps of providing a metallurgic powder comprising iron, 0-0.6 weight percent carbon, 0.5-5.0 weight percent silicon, 0.5-6.0 weight percent nickel, 0.5-1.5 weight percent molybdenum, 0-0.7 weight percent manganese, and 12-20 weight percent chromium, the weight percentages calculated based on the total weight of the powder. Secondly, the powders are compressed at a pressure of 35 to 65 tsi to provide a green compact. Then, the compact is heated in an atmosphere to a temperature of 2100° F. to 2400° F. for 20 to 90 minutes, such that the resulting microstructure of the compact is either single phase ferritic or dual phase ferritic and austenitic.
