  • Patent number: 8414567
Abstract: A method for controlling a device for the treatment or refractive correction of the human eye using an electronic data processing system provides a simple overview of the influence of all of the parameters. To this end, once the operating parameters have been determined, a graphical simulation of the operating procedure is carried out in the form of a graphical visualization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 2010
Date of Patent: April 9, 2013
    Assignee: Carl Zeiss Meditec AG
Inventors: Manfred Dick, Holger Maeusezahl, Dan Reinstein, Eckhard Schroeder, Hartmut Vogelsang

  • Publication number: 20060064078
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a device for the treatment or refractive correction of the human eye by means of an electronic computer. The aim of the invention is to create a method for controlling a device for treating the human eye, which provides a simple overview of the influence of all of the parameters. To this end, once the operating parameters have been determined, a graphical simulation of the operating procedure is carried out in the form of a graphical visualization.

  • Patent number: 6491637
Abstract: An apparatus for ultrasound scanning of the eye is provided comprising a virtual center translocation mechanism that facilitates precise arcuate motion of an ultrasonic transducer to maintain focal distance from the eye and to maintain normality of the ultrasound beam with surfaces of the eye. The invention also provides a radius adjust mechanism for changing the radius of ultrasound scanning to facilitate positioning of the transducer focal point on selected surfaces of the eye. Centration optics are also provided, for aligning the ultrasound transducer with the Purkinje (or other optical or geometric) axis of a patient's eye.

  • Publication number: 20020169460
Abstract: The invention provides a head support apparatus. The apparatus may for example be used for ophthalmic examination. In some embodiments, the apparatus may allow six degrees of freedom of motion during initial positioning of a patient's head, and may then be locked to hold the patient's head in place precisely. The head support mechanism may include three shafts connecting an upper frame to a structure. Each shaft may be provided with a ball-and-socket joint at one end and a lockable bearing assembly on the other end. The lockable bearing assembly may provide a combination of sliding and pivotal movement. A biasing assembly may be provided to support each shaft, and to return each shaft to a self-centered and fully lifted rest position. A head clamping apparatus is also disclosed comprising pivoting clamping arms and an adjustable chin rest.
