Abstract: A method and system for providing tandem protection in a communication system. Path protection is provided using at least two redundant communication paths and selecting the communication having higher signal quality. Interface protection is provided through a protection transceiver thus implementing M:N equipment protection and 1+1 optical protection.

Abstract: A sanitizing device has a supply of antibacterial fluid capable of rendering at least a portion of bacteria on an object inert. The fluid is sprayed in a path of distribution in a mist while the object is positioned in the path of distribution. Means are provided to propel the fluid, means are provided to activate commencement of the distribution of the fluid and means are provided to terminate the distribution. Preferably when hands of a person are being sanitized means are provided to ensure that the user is a non-child person. This may be facilitated in various ways including sensory measurement of a height of the user, measurement of a weight of the user and measurement of elevational placement of a trunk of the user via heat sensing of the trunk. Preferably suction is provided to remove excess sprayed fluid from about the sanitizing device.

Abstract: A method of increasing the amount of directly addressable memory address locations that can be allocated to RAM. An initialization routine is executed to identify ROM's in reserved memory address space that are to be reallocated. Suitable address space in extended memory is located and the ROM's are mapped into extended memory address space. A ROM access interceptor routine is implemented to trap ROM accesses and direct them to the reallocated address space. A ROM access handler routine is implemented to contain the ROM execution and to restore the computer system to a condition where it can continue execution of application or system software after the ROM access is completed. Memory addresses in reserved address space formerly allocated to ROM's can be reallocated to RAM or other memory devices.
