    Abstract: A media distribution system for aircraft comprises a processor, an optical encoder/decoder, and an optical backbone. The processor is configured to retrieve digital media from an in-flight media node. The optical encoder/decoder is configured to optically encode the digital media. The optical backbone is configured to carry the encoded digital media between the optical encoder/decoder and a Li-Fi access point at a passenger seat location.
