  • Patent number: 8379072
Abstract: The most preferred embodiments of the present invention are configured to allow a foreign language interpreter to remotely monitor, control, and interpret various legal proceedings for one or more remote locations, such as courtrooms. The interpreter will use a computer-based system to monitor and control the audio-video functions and communications that take place in one or more remote locations and to pass audio and/or video signals to and from the interpreter and the remote locations, including the people in the remote location that need interpretation services. This system allows the interpreter to monitor facial characteristics of the speakers, route the audio to isolated headsets when interpreting into the foreign language, route the audio to sound reinforcement speakers when interpreting from the foreign language, and interpret a “private” conversation between multiple parties speaking different languages.
