  • Patent number: 11971153
Abstract: Utility pole system having a battery storage housing defining a top portion, a bottom portion, and an interior volume with an access opening extending through the top portion; a pole with an upper end and a lower end attached to the top portion of the battery storage housing; and means for moving the pole from the first position where the lower end of the pole covers the access opening of the battery housing, and a second position where the lower end exposes the access opening. The utility pole system might also include electrical components powered by a battery provided in the battery storage housing, such battery charged by utility power.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 30, 2024
    Assignee: Comptek Technologies LLC
Inventors: James D. Lockwood, Kenneth Michael Hoganson, Dana Anthony Castronova
  • Patent number: 11469488
Abstract: An antenna housing configured to house a wireless antenna unit. The antenna housing defines an interior space sized to receive the antenna unit. Inlet and outlet ducting extend through a sidewall of the housing to connect to an internal cooling duct of the antenna unit allowing air to be drawn from outside the housing, through the antenna unit and expelled out of the hosing without intermingling with air in the interior of the housing. Additional airflow paths extend around side and/or rear surfaces antenna unit to provide additional cooling.

  • Publication number: 20210207781
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to utility poles having a subterranean vault that houses batteries to store energy. The batteries may be charged and discharged to the electrical power grid. The batteries may operate electrical components of the utility pole when grid power is not available. The utility pole in one configuration is a small cell pole. In one arrangement, the small cell pole and battery vault stores sufficient energy to operate for several day during a power failure.

  • Publication number: 20190221913
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to small cell poles. In various implementations, the small cell poles have a configuration similar to existing utility poles, which minimizes their aesthetic obtrusiveness. To accommodate multiple wireless service provides at a single location, the small cell poles are modular. The cell pole has a base structure that includes two or more equipment housings that are vertically stacked. The equipment housings house cell control equipment of different wireless providers. Additional housings may be added as needed. A pole extends from the upper housing to an antenna support structure that supports two or more antennas of the different wireless providers. The support structure is modular such that additional antennas may be added as needed.
