  • Publication number: 20210156582
Abstract: A fresh air cooling and ventilating system can include a whole house fan for introducing fresh air into a building structure. The fresh air cooling and ventilating system can include a whole house fan and/or a controller. The controller can be operably in communication with an air conditioning system and coordinate the usage of the fresh air cooling and ventilating system and the air conditioning system to reduce overall energy consumption. The system can be automated to run with no or minimal user input.

  • Patent number: 10830464
Abstract: A fresh-air cooling system for a building structure having an unvented attic is provided. The system provides airflow pathways that allow outside air to be drawn through, and discharged from, a building having an unvented attic. Dampers with a low thermal conductivity regulate airflow through the building structure. The system allows a whole house fan to cool a building having an unvented attic. The system seals or otherwise alters airflow pathways through the building structure in order to reduce heat transfer between the building and the outside environment when the cooling system is not in use.

  • Patent number: 10753627
Abstract: An energy efficient and quiet air cooling system for a building structure is provided. The air cooling system includes an evaporator system mounted in the wall of the building, a remotely mounted fan, an air intake, and a sound and heat insulating duct. The fan is mounted in the attic and configured to draw air from the living area of the building through the sound insulating duct with sufficient power to create a negative static pressure in the living area. The negative static pressure in turn causes outside air to flow through the evaporator system which removes heat from the outside air. The cooled air is in turn drawn into the building and pulled into the attic through the duct and expelled through the attic. The fan expels warm air into the attic, creating a positive pressure environment which causes the warm air to be expelled from the attic through natural vents.

  • Publication number: 20140206278
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to an automated fresh air cooling system. The automated fresh air cooling system can include a whole house fan, an air intake, an air conditioner, and at least one controller. The controller can adjust the usage of the different components of the fresh air cooling system in order to reduce overall energy consumption as well as cost to a consumer. The system can be completely automated and no user input is required.

  • Patent number: 7497774
Abstract: A whole house fan system and installation methods configured to reduce noise generated by the fan are provided. The system generally includes a fan, a register, and a flexible duct extending between the fan and the register. The flexible duct has acoustical insulation properties, which helps to reduce sound transmission from the fan to the register. The fan system is configured to be mounted in the attic space of a house. The fan motor is suspended in the attic so that it does not have direct contact with any part of the building structure.
