  • Patent number: 7686346
Abstract: An improved coupling, such as a transition tee coupling, is described having press-connect fittings on the ends and a push-connect fitting on the outlet. The improved transition tee coupling is formed using a reduced-outlet tee having press-connect fittings on all three sockets. An unfinished end of a tailpiece having a push-connect fitting on the opposite end is inserted into the outlet socket of the press-connect tee. The press-connect fitting of the outlet tee is crimped using a special press tool jaw that does not damage the push fitting on the tailpiece.

  • Patent number: 5867846
Abstract: A lightweight, low cost shower door assembly for enclosing a tub or shower enclosure having sides and a base. It includes an upper support member adapted to be positioned against opposing sides of the enclosure and a lower support member adapted to be positioned against the base of the enclosure. A door in the assembly includes a flexible rod connecting first and second frame members. The first frame member is connected to the upper and lower support members and positioned for movement about a vertical axis. The flexible rod is bowed to apply an upward force on the second frame member in order to maintain it in releasable connection with the upper support member. In use, a section of replaceable fabric or vinyl extends across the frame members in order to provide a water barrier for the door.

  • Patent number: 5732734
Abstract: A cartridge type valve is provided. In one embodiment, the valve has an off center inlet yet still permits a rotatable engagement between a bonnet and the side walls of the lower portion of the valve cartridge. In another embodiment, post members afford a stop surface for a rotatable stem, a vertical stop for a bonnet member, as well as orientation for a stationary valve element. A right and left-hand conversion is also provided by cross-shaped projections on the end of the stem and slots in a movable valve element.

  • Patent number: 5467799
Abstract: There is disclosed a pressure-compensated mixing valve of the diaphragm and reciprocating piston type, wherein a flexible connection between the diaphragm and the pistons is provided. This flexible connection affords a self-alignment of the pistons in water inlet passages. In a preferred manner, this is used with a mixing valve providing alignment of a ported ring member that also provides in part an internal stop feature.

  • Patent number: 4961443
Abstract: A handle assembly which is attachable to a conventional valve stem and includes a decorative handle member is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, an adapter element has an interior splined surface that mounts on the valve stem. The adapter also includes external splines and an annular flange. The adapter is positioned within a central opening in an escutcheon. A mounting screw fastens the adapter to the valve stem, with the escutcheon trapped beneath the adapter due to the presence of the annular flange. A post member has internal splines which engage the external splines of the adapter so that the parts rotate together. In addition, the post member has external splines which engage a splined opening in a handle. The handle comprises a bottom lever bar and a top lever bar. A strap cap is positioned over the handle and has a threaded hole to receive an upwardly-directed bolt. The bolt presses the handle between the strap cap and the post member.

  • Patent number: 4821765
Abstract: A removable cartridge type valve is provided which has a minimum number of parts yet affords right and left hand conversion for cold and hot water usage in the same valve. A cross shaped groove is provided on the top of the movable disk, and the stem selectively is inserted into one or the other arm of the groove. The valve also provides a secure fitment of the valve stem in the valve body through the use of a grooveless type retaining member. Further, any tendency for bottom gasket members to be forced down out of the valve housing is eliminated by the use of an L-shaped gasket. Binding is also reduced by thinning the gasket adjacent the intersection of the arms of the L on the gasket.
