  • Patent number: 4360751
Abstract: A unitary fan and drive assembly is formed by means of a disc-shaped plate having a set of fan blades disposed along the periphery of the plate. A compact shape is provided by forming the drive with a rotatable member that is nested within a central recess of the plate. An electric drive is conveniently implemented by an electric motor wherein the rotatable motor member has fan blades disposed along the periphery and wherein the stationary motor member includes a low-profile annular array enclosing an assembly for electrically energizing the motor.

  • Patent number: 4228384
Abstract: A bidirectional, axial air gap, brushless, printed circuit DC motor having a stationary, low inductance armature bonded to the motor frame and having a plurality of rotating permanent magnets. Electro-optical sensing is employed which produces a unique digital representation of the magnet position. The digital output of the electro-optical sensor is decoded and, using brush substitution techniques, is used to selectively and progressively energize fields in the armature winding ahead of the rotating magnets. Both single field per pole and multiple field per pole commutation techniques are taught. The armature may be cut so as to produce several independent coils which may be combined in various ways, depending on the application.

  • Patent number: 4115767
Abstract: There is disclosed an electronic scale which may, for example, be used as a bathroom scale, medical room scale, or otherwise. The scale provides a digital display of the weight of an object placed or positioned on a weighing platform and can provide said display in terms of the conventional system or the metric system by varying the time base or gate as applied to a counter. The counter has another input which provides a frequency related to the object's weight; which frequency is counted in accordance with the duration of the time gate, to enable a digital display of the weight.Apparatus is shown for providing a time base for the scale and employs two voltage to frequency converters, one to provide a frequency related to the weight of an object and the other to provide a time base; both of which vary according to supply fluctuations. The circuitry provides a number of pulses to the counter indicative of the true weight and independent of the supply voltage.
