Abstract: A driver, e.g., a UEFI driver (140), for a device (120) in a host (110) starts before an OS boot. The driver (140) provides functions including gathering information regarding the host system (110), directing the device (120) to transmit the gathered information to a cloud-based service (182), directing the device (120) to provide a catalog of current firmware, updating firmware in the host (110) or device (120) based on the catalog, and configuring the device (120). The device may be a storage processing unit (120) that is part of a cluster (100) that presents virtual volumes including a boot volume (138) for the host (110), and execution of the driver (140) can provide a delay until a boot volume (138) is ready.

Abstract: An adhesive wrapping system is provided. The adhesive wrapping system has a flexible sheet of material which has a planar layer and an opposing padding layer. The padding layer comprises a plurality of concave recessions, which when mated with the planar layer, forms gas-filled bubbles that provide a cushioning surface. The sheet of material further comprises a plurality of perforations which are linearly disposed across the sheet to provide a user with the ability to select a size and shape of material to be used. An adhesive is also disposed along at least one length of the sheet of material which secures the material to a desired surface, such as the sheet of material itself. A removable adhesive covering is disposed over the adhesive to preserve the adhesive until the adhesive is exposed for use.

Abstract: Auxiliary navigational assistance is provided by determining, by one or more processors, that a user traveling along a specified travel route with the assistance of a navigation system can use additional navigational assistance at a particular region of the specified travel route. Based on the determining, the one or more processors assign an unmanned vehicle to assist the user in traveling through the particular region along the specified travel route. Further, the one or more processors provide one or more auxiliary instructions to the user's navigation system directing the user to reference the unmanned vehicle within the particular region to assist the user in traveling through the particular region along the specified travel route. In operation, the particular region overlaps only a portion of the specified travel route.

Abstract: Methods and systems for use in constraining access to network resources based on notification and compliance requirements. In various examples, an access point or similar device receives and stores notification information (e.g., from a network administrator device) for provision to targeted client devices in a notification message. The access point also receives target criteria for use in identifying target client devices that are accessing or attempting to access network resources via the access point. In some embodiments, access to network resources by a targeted client device is constrained pending completion of a compliance condition requirement associated with a notification message. Various levels of access to network resources may be applied to non-compliant target client devices. Following completion of compliance condition, a target client device is exempted from further receipt of the notification message.

Abstract: Techniques for representing and generating XML data are provided. An associated system includes one or more processors and a mapping module configured to execute upon the one or more processors. The mapping module is configured to map each sparsely-encoded XML element of a sparse representation of a document into a complete, valid XML document. The system also includes a defaulting module configured to execute upon the one or more processors. The defaulting module is configured to generate at least one XML element that is missing in the sparse representation but required to generate the complete, valid XML document.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating a customized dynamic distribution e-mail list is provided. The method includes determining a predefined addressee-selecting rule in response to a user-executed command to send an e-mail. The method also includes selecting at least one addressee from an electronic data file based upon the addressee-selecting rule. The method further includes, for each addressee selected, inserting a corresponding address into a predetermined field of an e-mail prior to conveying the e-mail over a data communications network.

Abstract: The invention comprises a computer-implemented “hall monitor” system. The hall monitor includes a centralized database of employee presence data, and server software that allows users to update and access employee presence data over a network through a custom interface. The invention allows organizations to manage employees and members working from various locations who require updates as to their peers'current contact and location information at any given time.
