  • Patent number: 7216161
Abstract: An algorithm and a device manage a feature that allows a user to maintain an active session when moving from port to port. The device comprises a first memory, a second memory, and a verifier. The first memory stores a list of ports. The second memory stores a list of active sessions. Each active session identifies a port on which a user is connected. The verifier communicates with the first memory and the second memory and periodically checks each session in the list of active sessions. If a session is inactive, the verifier searches for the user on other ports. If verifier identifies the user on another port, the verifier updates the list of active sessions with the user identified on that other port.

  • Patent number: 6775537
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for a mobile station operable in a radio communication system. Improved convenience of use of the mobile station in the performance of net-searching operations is provided. A search query entered at the mobile station is selectably stored at a memory located at the mobile station. If the same search query is to be reused for a subsequent search, a search query is retrieved from the memory and reused, thereby obviating the need of the user of the mobile station to reenter the entire search query.

  • Publication number: 20020160815
Abstract: The present invention encompasses an electronic device operated in a communication system (for example CDMA, TDMA, GSM, etc.). The electronic device comprises a method that adjusts a dialing sequence, used to initiate a call, based on the current location of the electronic device. The method adjusts the dialing sequence to add any missing information, such an area code, country code, etc., thereby allowing the user to only provide a minimum length of dialing sequence when placing a call to a called party. Also, if the dialing sequence is represents one of the emergency numbers, then the method adjust the dialing sequence to use an emergency number used within a region defined by the current location.
