Abstract: A portable computer including an auxiliary Input/Output (IO) apparatus, a main controller configured to control the portable computer, a peripheral module configured to perform an individual function of the portable computer, an auxiliary Input/Output (IO) apparatus including a control unit configured to selectively control the peripheral module and being driven by its own operating system (OS), and an embedded controller (EC) configured to sense an operation mode of the portable computer from a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and to determine whether the main controller or the control unit of the auxiliary IO apparatus is to control the peripheral apparatus based on the sensed operation mode the of the portable computer.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and apparatus can establish a network using pre-set IP information when a host is coupled to a network. In an embodiment of a network establishment method, ARP response information can be compared with pre-stored set information using a predetermined calculation so to decide a set, an ARP can be broadcasted to determine whether the decided set is applicable to a network, and, if a response for one or more ARP is received, the decided set can be established as a network. In another embodiment of a network establishment method, an ARP can be broadcasted using pre-stored set information, and if a response for the ARP is received, a network can be established. According to embodiments of the invention, by applying an appropriate available setting among pre-set TCP/IP settings without manually establishing a TCP/IP connection, direct connection (e.g., Plug-and-Play) of a network can be performed.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for establishing a network by preset IP information when a host is plugged in a network, are provided. The apparatus and the method for establishing a network comprise one or more first hosts with a MAC address and an IP address as established; a second host for storing one or more different network related information as established or stored by a user; an interface unit for performing data send and receive operations through the network; and a unit for enabling a TCP/IP to be automatically established by the stored network related information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for establishing a network using a WZCSVC program without any collision. The method includes connecting to one of a plurality of wireless networks according to a predetermined order using information on the plurality of wireless networks; receiving a request for a connection to a new wireless network; suspending a wireless service in response to the request; and processing the request upon the suspension of the wireless service.
