  • Publication number: 20060240227
Abstract: The present invention provides novel calibration devices for use with fluorescent nanocrystal labels. Methods of preparing and using the calibration devices are also provided. Monodispersed populations of nanocrystals are deposited on surfaces. The monodispersed populations are obtained by dissolving the nanocrystals in a polar solvent.

  • Publication number: 20060205057
Abstract: Described herein is a method of providing three dimensional structures in a fluidic channel. The assay system comprises a channel, for example, a microfluidic channel, and a plurality of posts mounted to a support and arranged for insertion into the channel. The posts may be treated such that the posts are microporous, thereby greatly increasing the surface area of the posts. The posts are then treated with an agent that either activates the surface of the posts or facilitates immobilization of biomolecules of interest on the surface of the posts.

  • Publication number: 20050085001
Abstract: A porous silicon structure is stabilized by anodically oxidizing the structure and then subjecting it to chemical functionalization to protect non-oxidized surface regions, preferably in the presence of 1-decene under thermal conditions. This process creates a protective organic monolayer on the surface of the structure, rendering it highly stable.
