A resistor member, is permanently associated with the container. When the container is associated with the electrophotographic apparatus, the resistance of the resistor member is identified and a fault signal is communicated to a display when the incorrect configuration of the container is identified as being used in the electrophotographic apparatus. Also provided is a method of determining the configuration of a container in a printing or copying apparatus.

    Abstract: A toner-dispensing container assembly for attachment to a toner compartment cover device on an electrographic printing machine to supply toner composition to the toner receiving compartment while avoiding detachment and spillage. The toner-dispensing container assembly is fastenable over the toner compartment cover device and rotatable to a first position to open the cover to the toner compartment while the toner-dispensing container remains sealed. Further rotation of the toner dispensing container opens it to the toner-receiving compartment to dispense toner thereinto.

    Abstract: A developer unit for developing a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with a supply of particles, the developer unit including a sump for storing a refill supply of particles received from a container for use in the developer unit, the developer unit including a main cartridge body defining a sump portion. A fill aperture is aligned with the sump portion for receiving a toner refill container. A guide member is attached to the main body, the guide member cooperating with a corresponding member in a printing machine to position the main body in the printing machine. A stop member fixed to the guide member so that when the main body is moved in a first direction the stop member positions the main body in a position to be refilled, and when the main body is moved in a second direction, opposed to the first direction the developer unit is in an operative position in the printing machine.

The charging apparatus is operably electrically connectable to a power supply for supplying an electrical bias to the charging apparatus. The apparatus also includes a shield connected to the housing and at least partially surrounding the electrode. The apparatus also includes an electrical connector, electrically connected to the shield and electrically connectable to the power supply for providing an electrical bias to the shield. The housing includes an aperture periphery defining an aperture therein for communication of illumination from an illumination source with the photoconductive member. The cover includes a first portion positionable adjacent the housing, a second portion operably associated with the first portion and at least partially extendible between the illumination source and the photoconductive member for protecting a substantial portion of the photoconductive member from exposure, a third portion operably associated with the second portion, the third portion removably securable to the housing, and a fourth portion operably associated with the third portion. The fourth portion is utilized for removal of the cover. As the third portion is pulled from the housing the third portion is directed along a path spaced from the photoconductive member.
