  • Patent number: 9334865
Abstract: An electrical submersible pump assembly has a centrifugal pump with stages, each having an impeller and a diffuser. A shaft extending from an electrical motor rotates the impellers. In the stages, a thrust runner is coupled to the shaft for rotation in unison. A bushing is non rotatably mounted in a receptacle in the diffuser. The bushing has a bore that receives the body of the runner in sliding, rotating engagement. The bushing has a thrust receiving end engaged by the thrust face of the runner in rotating, sliding engagement to transfer thrust from the runner to the diffuser. An elastomeric compliant member between a cylindrical exterior of the bushing and the receptacle allows limited radial movement of the bushing relative to the diffuser.

  • Patent number: 9289864
Abstract: A method for forming pockets of a drill bit includes inserting a displacement plug in a cutter pocket defined by a substrate of a drill bit. A hardfacing material is applied to the substrate and the displacement plug using a plasma arc welding torch. The heat from the plasma arc welding torch reduces an oxide layer on the outer surface of the displacement plug, and the molten hardfacing material flows over the displacement plug and wets against the displacement plug. The displacement plug is then removed to reveal a final cutter pocket configured to receive a cutter compact. The cutter compact is secured to the final cutter pocket by brazing.

  • Patent number: 9286264
Abstract: An electronic control unit (“ECU”) limiter is disclosed. The electronic control unit may be configured to receive a user-specified vehicle limit, such as a speed limit, from an input device, such as a gauge interface of the vehicle or a diagnostic tool. The electronic control unit is further configured to enforce the received vehicle limit, without a need to reprogram (e.g., erase and rewrite) vehicle engine control data stored by the electronic control unit, such as lookup tables or maps that are used to determine the operational parameters (e.g., ignition timing, throttle) based on sensor inputs (e.g., engine revolutions per minute, engine temperature).

  • Publication number: 20160005545
Abstract: A solid electrolytic capacitor with an integrated fuse assembly is provided. The fuse can be secured in a recess formed in a face of the porous anode body of the capacitor. When the fuse is secured in the recess, the fuse can be substantially flush with the face of the porous anode body in which the recess is formed. Further, the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the fuse is reduced because the length of the connection between the fuse and the porous anode body is reduced. Further, because the fuse is integrated into the porous anode body, the capacitor can be assembled onto a circuit board via standard pick and place equipment.
