  • Publication number: 20090085291
Abstract: A portable game set comprising a game board constructed out of corrugated paper board having indicia thereon representing a game board and having slits on each position for receiving a game piece. The game pieces are rectangular and made of a transparent material so that the indicia indicating the game pieces is visible on both sides of the board. The corrugated paper board applies a large amount of pressure on the portion of the game pieces and has a highly frictional surface to securely retain the game pieces within the slits. The corrugated paper board rigidly holds the game pieces in the slits allowing the game to be played during a windy day or in turbulence. When the game pieces are inserted into the slits the game pieces vertically extend approximately 90 degrees with respect to the board thereby providing an improved appearance.

  • Patent number: 7502619
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for location determination of low power wireless devices, over a wide area, utilizing a multitude of communication devices operating on a WAN (Wide Area Network) which can detect signals transmitted by said nearby low power wireless devices, and report this detection to a control station over the WAN. Said station can further locate the reporting communication device by present art methods such as “network based” or “handset based”, and consequently locate the nearby wireless device. Due to the short range nature of the wireless device transmissions, and dynamic mobility of these devices, it is crucial to establish a swift ad-hoc connection between a wireless device and a nearby communication device, still, in order to save battery power and avoid inefficient and interfering transmissions, communications between a wireless device and a communication device are not initiated unitl a sensor comprised in the wireless device detects and a communication device.

  • Patent number: 7492251
Abstract: A Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), supporting two operation modes local monitoring and remote monitoring. The apparatus includes a PLB that supports the present operation mode, as well as a local monitoring mode, employing the same transmitter, and automatically switching between modes. Upon activation, the PLB first tries to communicate with a local monitoring station, at a low transmission power, and at a high repetition rate, in purpose of dealing with the PLB call locally, without involving the remote monitoring station. Then, if not acknowledged by a local monitoring station, the PLB increases its transmission power, enabling access to a remote monitoring station. In a preferred embodiment, the PLB is carried by a person onboard a vessel, to alarm upon a Man Overboard (MOB) accident, the local monitoring station is installed onboard the same vessel, and the remote monitoring station is part of a satellite Search and Rescue (SAR) system, as Cospas-Sarsat.

  • Publication number: 20090040108
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device and method for precisely determining the direction and distance to a satellite radio beacon. In one embodiment, the disclosed device is used for SAR (search and rescue) of people in distress, upon activation of an emergency radio beacon, such as a marine EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) or an airborne ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) or a terrestrial PLB (Personal Location Beacon) or a marine SSAS (Ship Security Alert System) beacon, beacons which are part of the Cospas-Sarsat system.

  • Patent number: 7440427
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for increasing the channel capacity of a communications network, comprising a plurality of one-way TDMA transmitters sharing said channel, and at least one compatible receiver, by reducing transmission collisions among said transmitters. This is achieved by coupling a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) decoder, such as a GPS receiver, to each transmitter, and limiting transmissions to discrete time slots, determined by timing signals provided by said GNSS. Further, this basic set of time slots is divided into several sub sets, and each transmitter selects a sub set of time slots according to its geographic location, in order to enable reusing time slots in spaced apart areas, as frequencies are reused in cellular networks. Then, each transmitter selects its own transmission time slot, from said sub set, in a way that statistically minimizes collisions among nearby transmitters.

  • Patent number: 7155238
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and a method to locate moving objects, such as people, pets and vehicles, over a wide area, by attaching small wireless devices, such as Bluetooth transceivers, to said objects and determining the location of said devices. The location of said wireless devices is determined by achieving ad-hoc short range wireless connectivity between said devices and communication devices such as Bluetooth enabled mobile phones that pass by, where said latter communication devices can be located by other means, such as GPS or network-based techniques.

  • Publication number: 20060227811
Abstract: A network transport layer accelerator accelerates processing of packets so that packets can be forwarded at wire-speed. To accelerate processing of packets, the accelerator performs pre-processing on a network transport layer header encapsulated in a packet for a connection and performs in-line network transport layer checksum insertion prior to transmitting a packet. A timer unit in the accelerator schedules processing of the received packets. The accelerator also includes a free pool allocator which manages buffers for storing the received packets and a packet order unit which synchronizes processing of received packets for a same connection.

  • Patent number: 4953864
Abstract: A method and apparatus for successively determining each line of a trigram or hexagram used in consulting the I-Ching. Indistinguishable magnets, preferably bar magnets, are selected at random and brought into proximity, allowing the magnetic poles of the magnets, so juxtaposed, to exhibit attraction or repulsion. States of the lines of the trigram or hexagram as broken or unbroken are assigned to each observed magnetic interaction. The lines so determined are visually displayed as a group to form the I-Ching hexagram.
