  • Publication number: 20180338195
Abstract: Current ear-inserts are custom made, have variable sizes, and often fall out of the user's ear. In an embodiment, a gripping ear-insert includes a sealed membrane having conformable material therein (e.g., within a cavity). The sealed membrane is configured to form a shape conforming to a section of the human ear upon insertion. The gripping ear-insert also includes a port configured to, in response to being activated, allow for adjustment of air pressure within the sealed membrane. The gripping ear-insert can also include a control coupled with the port, configured such that in response to the control being activated, the port evacuates air from a cavity of the sealed membrane, such that the sealed membrane retains its shape after evacuation of the air. As such, the gripping ear-insert is secured in the user's ear while the amount of air/air pressure is adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20170258571
Abstract: A composite containing a fabric and a polyampholyte hydrogel is provided. In the composite, the polyampholyte hydrogel is a hydrogel of a polymer containing randomly dispersed cationic and anionic repeat groups and at least a part of the fabric is coated with the polyampholyte hydrogel. A method of preparation of the composite involves steps (a) to (c): (a) providing a monomer mixture for preparation of a polyampholyte hydrogel; (b) immersing a fabric in the monomer mixture solution; and (c) polymerizing monomers in the monomer mixture solution to obtain a precursor of the composite.

  • Publication number: 20170105743
Abstract: A catheter has an expansile tip that can be delivered in a constricted form. The increased tip diameter facilitates the aspiration and removal of large clot volumes by increasing the area of the catheter tip that applies aspiration to the clot. The tip comprises a support frame which can be cut from a metal or polymer tube, covered with a thin polymer sleeve 909 containing highly elastic properties. This construction provides good pushability and high compressive resistance. The cut pattern can contain axial connections of the support frame and ring members, which will provide a large level of axial support, lateral flexibility and hoop strength to withstand aspiration. The tip of the device can contain a section proximal of the highly flexible area that can expand to except clot. This potential to increase body diameter facilitates the retrieval of large volume clots while the construction of the catheter provides good column stiffness to avoid axial collapse and still maintain good flexibility.

The expandable structure has a constrained delivery configuration, an expanded clot engaging deployed configuration, and an at least partially constrained clot pinching configuration. At least a portion of the expandable structure is configured to engage clot in the expanded deployed configuration and to pinch clot on movement from the deployed configuration to the clot capture configuration. The expandable structure may comprise a main body portion and a clot pinching structure and a diameter of the clot pinching structure is less than a diameter of the main body portion. The clot pinching structure may be substantially tubular and of spiral form.

  • Publication number: 20160256180
Abstract: A rapid exchange (RX) catheter may provide a proximal seal against a guide catheter inner lumen so that aspiration may be applied through a guide catheter. The catheter may include an exit port that defines a transfer port for aspiration and may enable minimal frictional engagement with the guide catheter proximal of the exit port. Aspiration can be applied to the lumen of the guide catheter and may be directed to and effective at the tip of the RX aspiration catheter. A tip of the RX catheter may facilitate aspiration and retrieval of the clot by expanding under load and can also partially or fully occlude the vessel.

  • Patent number: 8729877
Abstract: A method is provided. A low dropout regulator (LDO) is disabled during a first mode, and a first reference voltage is selected and applied to a switched-mode converter during the first mode. Also during the first mode, a first output voltage is generated by the switched-mode converter from a power supply, and a first capacitor is overcharged with the first output voltage. The LDO is then enabled during a second mode. During a first portion of a startup period for the second mode, a second capacitor is charged from the first capacitor, and a second reference voltage is selected and applied to the switched-mode converter. Then, during a second portion of the startup period for the second mode, the second capacitor is charged with the switched-mode converter.

  • Publication number: 20130063111
Abstract: A method is provided. A first reference voltage during an idle mode is selected, and the first reference voltage is applied to a switched-mode converter. A first output voltage is then generated by the switched-mode converter from a power supply, and a capacitor is overcharged with the first output voltage. The first output voltage is regulated to generate a second output voltage during the idle mode. Then, a second reference voltage during a quiet mode, where the second reference voltage to the buck converter. During the quiet mode, a third output voltage is generated from the switched-mode converter and from discharging the overcharged capacitor, and the third output voltage is regulated to generate the second output voltage.
