  • Patent number: 6149014
Abstract: A top feed, wet drum magnetic separator capable of treating, removing tramp metal from the full flow discharge of a grinding mill having a feed box which provides overflow capacity, velocity break to minimize turbulence, and spread the slurry evenly across the drum surface. A flow transition is provided to the rotating drum surface. A fixed magnet assembly is supported inside the drum. Barrier walls contain the flow and a cover confines the flow over the drum. A partitioned product hopper collects metallic fragments separately from the bulk slurry flow. A spray bar is provided to clean the drum.

  • Patent number: 4597857
Abstract: A process for separating metal sulfide minerals from an ore containing metal sulfide minerals and silicate clays by subjecting the finely divided ore to anionic flotation using an anionic collector to produce a metal sulfide mineral concentrate containing silicate clay, separating the anionic collector from the concentrate and subjecting the concentrate to cationic flotation to selectively float silicate and produce as a residual product a metal sulfide mineral concentrate containing reduced amounts of silicate clay.

Inventors: Daniel A. Norrgran, William B. Davis
  • Patent number: 4549959
Abstract: A process for selectively separating molybdenum from a molybdenite-containing copper sulfide concentrate by a flotation process wherein the molybdenite is selectively floated by the use of a sulfite or bisulfite compound as a copper sulfide depressant.

  • Patent number: 4541993
Abstract: In the extraction of certain non-ferrous metals from their sulfide ores by a process where these sulfides are converted to water soluble sulfates by roasting, alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate, especially sodium carbonate, is added to the roaster feed to promote the sulfatization reaction. Ores containing copper, nickel, cobalt or zinc sulfides are concentrated by froth flotation, the concentrate mixed with carbonate or bicarbonate and roasted. The roasted product is mixed with water to separate these metals as soluble sulfates from iron compounds and other solid residue. The sulfate solution is filtered from the solids and the non ferrous metals recovered by precipitation or electrolysis.
