  • Patent number: 10473059
Abstract: A natural gas fueling system supplies methane gas to an engine and includes a filter assembly. The filter assembly includes a gas inlet configured to receive inlet gas and a methane permeable filter configured to separate methane gas and first contaminant gases from the inlet gas. The natural gas fueling system also includes a reformer apparatus configured to convert the first contaminant gases into a reformed gas stream including methane gas. The reformed gas is supplied to the gas inlet and is recirculated through the filter assembly to extract the methane gas from the reformed gas stream.

  • Patent number: 9334769
Abstract: Generally, an overflow conduit is described in apparatuses, systems, and methods to protect a crankcase oil sump from overfill. The overflow conduit is to be connected to a crankcase oil sump of an engine, and is configured to passively receive oil from the crankcase oil sump to avoid an overfill condition from occurring in the crankcase oil sump. The overflow conduit is configured to deliver excess oil received to a sub-base tank located relatively below the crankcase oil sump, or in particular at or below an oil level in the crankcase oil sump.

  • Patent number: 6892715
Abstract: An improved crankcase ventilation system for a vehicle which includes an air compressor to route crankcase gases to the intake manifold for combustion. The primary vehicle components include and aircleaner, a turbocharger compressor positioned downstream from the aircleaner, an optional aftercooler positioned downstream from the turbocharger compressor, and an engine having an intake manifold and a crankcase equipped with a breather port for venting crankcase gases. Crankcase gases are vented through the breather port to the air compressor. Clean air from downstream of the aircleaner but upstream of the turbocharger compressor is drawn into the air compressor as needed to prevent the air compressor from drawing too much crankcase gas and reducing the internal pressure of the crankcase to undesirable levels.

  • Patent number: 5619956
Abstract: An auxiliary power system includes an engine balance system, an integrated alternator/starter, a thermal management system, noise-vibration-harshness control system, an emissions/fuel economy system, an APU master control unit, and a vehicle control system. The thermal management system includes an alternator/starter cooling assembly for cooling an alternator/starter in the auxiliary power system, an engine lubricating/cooling assembly for cooling an engine in the auxiliary power system, an assembly for collecting a cooling material after passing through the alternator/starter and the engine, an assembly for scavenging the cooling material from the collecting assembly to a first heat exchanger, an assembly for circulating the cooling material back to the alternator/starter and the engine, and a second heat exchanger which is disposed on the circulating assembly between the first heat exchanger and an alternator/starter inlet.

  • Patent number: 4543927
Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine is described which allows the engine to be started and stopped while unloaded. The invention incorporates the mechanical linkage operated by a solenoid to control a valve at the interior of the engine and an electronic circuit incorporating one or more time delay relays. The invention provides a means of reducing or eliminating the source of vibration resulting from the starting and stopping of a single cylinder diesel engine. Several embodiments are described including one incorporating an integrated circuit timer and one incorporating two time delay relays.
