  • Patent number: 5697541
Abstract: A canister-type magazine for the class of fastener driving tool which uses a coil of tandemly arranged fasteners. The magazine comprises a substantially cylindrical body having a top, a bottom and a side wall, and is made up of a fixed body part and a movable body part. The fixed body part has a forward end attached to the tool fastener feed mechanism and a rearward end attached to the tool handle. The fixed body part comprises the top and a segment of the side wall of the magazine. The movable body part has forward and rearward ends and comprises the bottom, the fastener coil support surface, and the remainder of the side wall of the magazine. The movable body part is pivotally affixed at its rearward end to a hinge member. The hinge member, in turn, is adjustably mounted in a hinge member support constituting a portion of the rearward end of the fixed body part.

  • Patent number: 5683024
Abstract: A housing including a handle portion and drive portion is provided. A power operated drive in the housing drive portion is operable to be selectively moved through a drive stroke and a return stroke. A nosepiece and magazine assembly are carried by the housing including cooperating fixed and movable structure defining an elongated drive track, a feed track leading laterally into the drive track, and a coil container leading into the feed track. A fastener driving element is slidably mounted in the drive track and operatively connected with the power operated drive so as to drive a leading fastener fed into the drive track from the feed track outwardly of the drive track. The unitary movable structure is mounted for pivotal movement when a fastener package has been depleted from a closed operating position in cooperating relation with the fixed structure into an open loading position. An actuating mechanism is provided for actuating the power operated drive to move through an operating cycle.

  • Patent number: 4671444
Abstract: A stapler device of the type including an anvil for forming elongated preforms into U-shaped staples and a spring pressed feeder for engaging the legs of the formed staple to advance the supply. The device includes a mounting for the anvil, the feeder and the feeder spring as a self-contained assembly on the stapler housing for movement from an operative position in a lateral direction away from the drive track into a staple clearing position and from the staple clearing position in a lateral direction toward the drive track into the operative position. A manually operable assembly is provided for effecting movement of the anvil, the feeder and the feeder spring from the operating position into the staple clearing position.
