  • Publication number: 20030056869
Abstract: A method and system for maintaining the inventory of labels is presented. An inventory count for each label type is maintained in a database. The database is updated when the labeler is operated by detecting the label type being used by a labeler by counting and subtracting the number of labels dispensed from the inventory count. The inventory count is adjusted from a remote location or via an operator interface. The system may be integrated with a labeler controller. The system includes a label sensor and counter for detecting and counting labels, a label database, a processing unit, an operator interface, and a gateway connection. An alarm is provided when the inventory of a label type is low and labels of the label type are automatically reordered if a reorder option is selected.

  • Publication number: 20010037853
Abstract: A labeling apparatus includes a supply of label strip including a carrier strip and a plurality of labels having an underside adhesively secured to the carrier strip, a drive for advancing the label strip over a separation plate to separate the labels from the carrier strip at a label pick-up position, and a label pick-up and placement device for picking up a label from the label pick-up position and placing the label onto an article. The labeler also preferably includes a fluid delivery device for delivering fluid flow to the underside of the labels at the label pick-up position to promote separation of the labels from the carrier strip. Accordingly, the labeler is able to effectively use older or lower cost label strip without labels sticking to the carrier strip. The fluid delivery device may comprise a nozzle body having an inlet port to be connected to a fluid source and an outlet port for directing the fluid flow to the underside of the labels.

  • Patent number: 5979473
Abstract: An improved apparatus for washing fruit that includes supporting rollers, a nozzle for directing a spray of water at 100 psi at the surface of the whole fruit; and clean-out bars that reduce the movement of the fruit toward the nozzle being transported at a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 5918610
Abstract: A water system for a fruit washer has a low pressure pre-rinse section for removal of heavy debris and a high pressure wash section to remove organic material. Water is collected from the high pressure section. A filter removes the organic material from the collected water. The filtered water is stored and includes a reservoir and a make-up water supply line for receiving water from a make-up water supply to maintain a predetermined water level in the reservoir. A first low pressure pump is connected to draw collected water from the reservoir. A portion of the output from the first pump is directed to the pre-rinse section. A second high pressure pump receives the other portion of the output from the first pump and directs filtered water to the high pressure section.
