  • Patent number: 11936462
Abstract: An architecture to reduce or eliminate uplink interference induced by aerial user equipment (UE) when aerial UE is introduced into groups of terrestrial based UE operating in terrestrial fourth generation (4G) long term evolution (LTE), fifth generation (5G) networks. A method can comprise determining a number of terrestrial based user equipment impacted by uplink interference caused by uplink transmissions associated with aerial user equipment, wherein the aerial user equipment and the terrestrial based user equipment are controlled by serving cell equipment; determining an enclosed area that bounds the number of terrestrial based user equipment; and initiating a carrier aggregation process on the aerial user equipment, wherein the carrier aggregation divides the uplink transmissions associated with the aerial user equipment over a group of serving cell equipment included in the enclosed area.

  • Publication number: 20240089829
Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards adjusting system information status from not broadcasting other system information block(s) to broadcasting, and vice-versa at a base station (e.g., a 5G gNB). The change can be based on network condition data, and can achieve more optimal network performance. When a base station is not broadcasting other system information, and a sufficient number of user equipment devices are expected to transition from idle to connected mode, a base station changes from the not broadcasting status (on demand responding) to broadcasting. A core network component can direct the change, after which the data sent as part of periodically broadcast minimum system information (SIB1) data. A paging message is transmitted to direct the user equipment devices to process the changed SIB1 data. The system information status can be reverted back to not broadcasting status when deemed by the network to be no longer appropriate.

  • Publication number: 20240089745
Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards user equipment requests for delivery of other system information block (SIB) data from a base station, in which one or more beams for transmitting the other SIB data can be specified by the user equipment based on its state data. Transmitting via only selected beams saves network resources, generally without increasing user equipment retry requests. The user equipment can determine which beam(s) it detects based on beam signal strength data, and determine mobility data of the user equipment. The user equipment determines beam sweeping delivery data based on the detected beam signal strength data and/or the mobility data, and associates the beam sweeping request data with the request for the other SIB data. The network selects one or more beams for sweeping to deliver the other SIB data based on the beam sweeping request data of the user equipment, and possibly other user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20240089800
Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards improving system usage of a communication network with respect to on-demand system information delivery for certain user equipment devices. When a first user equipment requests on-demand delivery of other system information block data (e.g., SIB2, SIB3, and so on) from a base station, a second device, and possibly other devices, can wait to receive the other system information block data via a broadcast response to the request. Configuration data can indicate that a user equipment device is to operate in the requesting mode or the non-requesting mode. While operating in the non-requesting mode, a device can request the data if not timely received. A device can change modes based on condition data, e.g., QoS of an application, remaining battery power and the like. The disclosed technology can conserve both user equipment resources and network resources.

  • Publication number: 20240089032
Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards user equipment requests for delivery of other system information block (SIB) data from a base station, in which one or more repetitions of the other SIB data transmissions can be requested in a single request. Transmitting repeated response messages reduces the need for the user equipment to retry the requesting procedure when errors occur with respect to correctly receiving a single instance of the other SIB data. The user equipment can measure signal quality and obtain reported signal quality by the base station. The user equipment determines repetition data, based on the signal quality difference, for delivery of the other SIB data. The request sent by the user equipment includes the repetition data, whereby the base station repeats the transmission of instances of the other SIB data to increase the likelihood that an instance will be correctly received and decoded by the user equipment.
