Publication number: 20210211972Abstract: A user equipment (UE) supports communication over a first (lower) frequency range and a second (higher) frequency range. The UE determines an extent of preference of the second frequency range over the first frequency range, e.g., based on one or more of the following: sensor measurements; physical channel measurements; battery conditions; weather conditions; voice call activity; indoor/outdoor/in-car status; learned relationships between previous location-time conditions and performance on the second frequency range; etc. The UE device may control search activity and/or measurement activity on the second frequency range based on the preference extent, e.g., by controlling rates of repetition of search and/or measurement on the second frequency range, or by adding a measurement bias to a measurement reporting threshold, or by adding a delay to a measurement reporting time for a measurement, or by disabling search and measurement on the second frequency range.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2020Publication date: July 8, 2021Inventors: Wei Zhang, Alosious Pradeep Prabhakar, Pengkai Zhao, Vijay Venkataraman, Junsung Lim, Zhu Ji, Johnson O. Patent number: 8775113Abstract: Circuits, methods, and apparatus for testing media devices. One example provides a test system for testing a number of media players. One or more computers can control the testing of the media players and collect results. Each media player tested may be connected to a computer via an adapter. The adapter may include a connection control circuit and an interface. The connection control circuit may connect and disconnect a power supply to the media player being tested. The voltage waveform produced when the power supply is connected and disconnected may be designed to mimic the voltage waveform produced when a user connects and disconnects a cable or docking station from the media player. The interface may receive commands to provide specific instructions to the media player. The interface may monitor the status and activities performed by the media player and report back to the computer.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2008Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: David M. Powers, Christian Huffman, Daniel A. West

Patent number: 5319421Abstract: A self calibrating system for measuring concentration of a material carried in a fluid medium. The system has a flow cell means for measuring the transmissivity of a fluid medium passing therethrough, a first means for delivering a first fluid containing material carried in fluid medium, and a second means for delivering a clear dispersant fluid.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1992Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Daniel A. Patent number: 4776528Abstract: In a reel-to-reel web transport (such as a magnetic tape recorder), apparatus is provided for accurately positioning a takeup reel to receive the lead end of a web. The takeup reel is rotated in web supply and takeup directions by a brushless direct current (DC) motor. A magnetic hysteresis brake is coupled to the takeup reel when the reel is rotated in a web supply direction. The rotational position of the takeup reel to receive the lead end of a web is coincident with a stable torque equilibrium position of the DC motor.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1987Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Daniel A. Patent number: 4674897Abstract: An improved dot matrix actuator is provided which includes a magnetic circuit formed of a yoke assembly and a pivotal armature. The armature is pivotally supported with respect to the yoke by means of a flexure assembly which eliminates the need for a true pivot between the two elements. The elements are shaped so as to maintain a constant small air gap therebetween so as to maximize the magnetic efficiency of the device while eliminating wear. The device is operated just below saturation of the magnetic circuit in order to maximize efficiency. In addition, the actuator includes several features for maximizing its speed and operational efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1985Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Assignee: Dataproducts, Inc.Inventors: Daniel A. West, Lawrence S. Nyi
