  • Patent number: 10461364
Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte for a lithium-ion battery comprises a lithium salt and an additive in an organic solvent. The additive comprises a di-substituted malonate silyl ester compound, in which the hydrogens of the malonate methylene group are replaced by substituents R1 (e.g., alkyl) and X (e.g., halogen). Each of the carboxylic acid groups of the malonate are esterified by a monovalent silyl group such as —Si(R4)3; or the two carboxylic acid groups are esterified by a single divalent silylene group such as —Si(R5)2— to form a ring therewith. Each R4 and R5 independently is alkyl, phenyl, or alkoxy; and each substituted-alkyl comprises an alkyl moiety substituted with one or more group selected from alkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxy, halogen, alkoxy, carboxylic acid, carboxylic ester, carboxylic amide, phenyl, sulfonic acid, and phosphonic acid.

  • Patent number: 9976641
Abstract: A hydraulic transmission comprising a variable displacement pump and motor, at least one having cylinders having valves which are controllable on each cycle of cylinder working volume to determine the net displacement of working fluid by the cylinder. The transmission has a valve control module which determines a displacement of the pump and the motor by specifying a displacement demand. The pump and/or motor valve control module determine the frequency of intensity peaks in the frequency spectrum of the pattern of cylinders carrying out active and inactive cycles of cylinder working volume using a first procedure and, if these will fall within disallowed frequency bands including the resonant frequency of components with which the transmission is in mechanical communication, the displacement demand, or another input, is periodically modified to suppress generation of those frequencies. The hydraulic transmission is useful for example in a wind turbine generator, or a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9934425
Abstract: A user interacts with various pieces of technology to perform numerous tasks and activities. Reactions can be observed and mental states inferred from these performances. Multiple devices, including mobile devices, can observe and record or transmit a user's mental state data. The mental state data collected from the multiple devices can be used to analyze the mental states of the user. The mental state data can be in the form of facial expressions, electrodermal activity, movements, or other detectable manifestations. Multiple cameras on the multiple devices can be usefully employed to collect facial data. An output can be rendered based on an analysis of the mental state data.

  • Publication number: 20140200463
Abstract: The mental state of an individual is obtained to determine their well-being status. The mental state is derived from an analysis of facial information and physiological information of an individual. The well-being status of other individuals is correlated to the well-being status of the first individual. The well-being status of the individual or group of individuals is rendered for display. The well-being status of an individual is used to provide feedback and to recommend activities for the individual.

  • Publication number: 20140070534
Abstract: A power generating apparatus of renewable energy type includes a rotating shaft rotated by the renewable energy received via a blade, a hydraulic pump driven by the rotating shaft to generate pressurized oil, hydraulic motors driven by the pressurized oil, and synchronous generators connected to a grid without an intervening frequency-conversion circuit and respectively coupled to the hydraulic motors. The displacements of the hydraulic motors are adjusted independently by a motor control unit. A synchronizer supplies a command value of the displacement of each hydraulic motor to the motor control unit so that before the synchronous generators are connected to the grid, a frequency and a phase of a terminal voltage of each synchronous generator are synchronized with the grid.

  • Publication number: 20140059237
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for conducting and scheduling a communication session with a remote agent. A communication session can be scheduled using a scheduling interface configured to present scheduling data. Upon scheduling a communication session, the user can be sent a confirmation message including the details of the scheduled communication session. The user can enter the communication session via a launch page configured to allow entrance to the communication session during a scheduled time period. Prior to the time period, the launch page can present the user with a clock indicating the remaining time until the user can enter. Upon entering the communication session, the user is presented with a communication session interface enabled with a primary communication method. Communication methods can be added or terminated with terminating the communication session as long as one communication method remains active.
