  • Patent number: 4576526
Abstract: An arrangement for supplying powdered material to a spraying device in an installation for thermal spraying comprises at least one powder storage container and an injection device by which the powder is introduced into a stream of carrier gas. A buffer chamber is disposed upstream of the injection device and comprises means for controlling the level of the powder, at least one controllable feeding means being connected, by means of a control device, to the level-controlled buffer chamber. The present arrangement allows to obtain a well-defined rate of flow of powder which is constant and adjustable, from one or more powder storage containers.

  • Patent number: 4389251
Abstract: A powder mixture for thermal spraying is disclosed which comprises at least two powders of alloys with a different hardness in the range from 200 to 650 Hv and/or a different static coefficient of friction in the range from 0.01 to 0.3 .mu.s.The protective layers obtained by thermal spraying of the mixture have a heterogeneous, lamellar structure with low internal tensions even at substantial thickness, they have high resistance to frictional wear and very good frictional properties.

  • Patent number: 4317540
Abstract: A safety burner for spraying metal powder in the molten state is provided comprising a burner body and a powder supply device formed of a carrier part firmly connected to the burner body and having an intermediate part removably attached to the carrier part, the intermediate part having means for detachably coupling a powder container thereto and also having a powder shutoff device cooperably associated therewith, the intermediate part and the carrier part being arranged one to the other such that the intermediate part can be removed from the carrier part only when the powder shutoff device is closed. The burner also includes gas flow conduits within it for conveying combustible gas and an oxidizing gas and powder-carrier gas therethrough. The burner body contains a first combustible gas-oxidizing gas injector and a second powder-carrier gas injector, the first injector being coupled to the combustible gas-oxidizing gas conduit and the second injector being coupled to the powder-carrier gas conduit.
