Publication number: 20220082631Abstract: Systems and methods for accurately determining the state of health (including state of charge and relative age) of a Lithium Sulfur battery, module or cell. The invention uses an operational model of a Lithium Sulfur cell or battery to predict model parameters under a range of conditions related to state of charge and state of health. Operational models include the memory effect due to the unique chemistry of a Lithium Sulfur cell that precludes the user of other methodologies for State of health determination for Lithium Sulfur batteries. Model parameters are identified in real life applications and parameters are compared to those of the operational Lithium Sulfur model employing Kalman filtering. The output includes an estimate of state of health and other key performance indicators. Key performance indicators are compared with measured values of for example resistance to provide feedback to the estimate process in order to improve accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Applicant: Oxis Energy LimitedInventors: Mark Wild, Greg Offer, Monica Marinescu, Daniel Auger, Abbas Fotouhi, Geraint Minton

Patent number: 11269036Abstract: In one aspect the disclosed technology relates to embodiments of a method (e.g., for automatic cine DENSE strain analysis) which includes acquiring magnetic resonance data associated with a physiological activity in an area of interest of a subject where the acquired magnetic resonance data includes one or more phase-encoded data sets. The method also includes determining, from at least the one or more phase-encoded data sets, a data set corresponding to the physiological activity in the area of interest where the reconstruction comprises performing phase unwrapping of the phase-encoded data set using region growing along multiple pathways based on phase predictions.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2019Date of Patent: March 8, 2022Assignee: University of Virginia Patent FoundationInventors: Frederick H. Epstein, Daniel A. Auger, Changyu Sun, Xiaoying Cai

Publication number: 20210259715Abstract: A method and instrumentation for performing a patellofemoral arthroplasty orthopaedic procedure includes coupling an anterior cutting block to a femur of a patient such that the cutting block references local anatomy of the femur. The anterior cutting block is used to perform a number of bone cuts to establish a trochlear cavity in the femur. The trochlear cavity is formed such that a trochlear prosthesis may be inset into the cavity and substantially flush with the surrounding cartilage. A finishing burring guide and burr bit may be used to detail the shape and/or size of the trochlear cavity. Additionally, a trochlear drill guide may be used to facilitate establishing peg holes in the patient's femur to receive corresponding pegs of the trochlear prosthesis.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2021Publication date: August 26, 2021Inventors: Lisa Robertson, Daniel Auger, Matthew Wallace, Jack Farr, II, Scott Brown, Dimitri Sokolov

Patent number: 7383164Abstract: A system improves the design of artificial implant components for use in joint replacement surgeries. The system includes an anthropometric static image data analyzer, an implant model data generator, a kinematic model simulator, and a dynamic response data analyzer. The implant model data generator may also use image data of a joint in motion for modification of the implant model data used in the kinematic simulation. Dynamic response data generated by the kinematic model simulation is analyzed by the dynamic response data analyzer to generate differential data that may be used to further refine the implant model data.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2004Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Assignee: DePuy Products, Inc.Inventors: Luke Aram, Daniel Auger, Jordan Lee, Adam Hayden

Publication number: 20070233268Abstract: An interpositional knee arthroplasty is disclosed for attachment to a knee condyle. The interpositional knee arthroplasty comprises a spacer and at least one fastener extending from the spacer. The at least one fastener is designed and dimensioned to extend into the condyle without penetrating through the subcondylar plate. The spacer may be kidney shaped to facilitate attachment to the knee condyle. The fastener comprises at least one peg with at least one deformable fin attached to the peg. The deformable fin may be cup shaped. In operation, at least one hole is formed in a patient's condyle. The at least one hole is dimensioned to receive the at least one peg member and deformable fin, but the hole does not extend to the subcondylar bone. When the peg member is forced into the hole in the condyle, the deformable fin collapses and wedges the peg member in the hole.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2006Publication date: October 4, 2007Applicant: DePuy Products, Inc.Inventors: Christel Wagner, Daniel Auger
