  • Publication number: 20150098691
Abstract: Technology for enhancing video playback is described. In some embodiments, the technology parses recorded event data into a plurality of segments. Data within each segment may then be analyzed in an attempt to identify the occurrence of potentially interesting events. Based on the analysis, a significance value is assigned to or adjusted for each segment. Based on the comparison of the significance value for a segment with one or more significance thresholds, a playback speed is assigned to the segment. A playback index correlating each segment with the assigned playback speed may then he produced and used to control playback speed during video viewing. This may allow relatively uninteresting portions of video to he automatically bypassed at high playback speed, while interesting portions are played at relatively low speed.

  • Publication number: 20140327655
Abstract: Technologies are described herein that allow for the detecting and locating of an extra-device touch event, such as the strike of a hand or the tap of a finger or a pencil on the surface surrounding a mobile device. Applications executing on a mobile device or the device's operating system can take various actions based on the touch event's location. Mobile device sensors, such as accelerometers, detect that a touch event has taken place by detecting device movement in response to the touch event. In some embodiments, a touch event feature vector is generated from sensor readings and passed to a classifier that determines the touch event location. Other touch event information, such as timing, intensity and a profile of the object that caused the touch event can also be determined.

  • Publication number: 20140282009
Abstract: A system and method for content creation based on a mixed-initiative approach includes an interface configured to allow a user to access and interact with a generation module to assist in the creation of a media project based on media from a media database. The generation module is configured to receive user-selected media and retrieve a set of related media and populate and organize the media project with the user-selected media and related media. For example, in the case of a photo book project, the generation module is configured to automatically identify a set of images associated with a user-selected image and populate a corresponding page of the photo book with the user-selected image and set of associated images in a corresponding layout, having the user-selected image most prominently depicted. The generation module provides the user with a preview of a generated page for evaluation and manual user editing.
