Publication number: 20250229906Abstract: A laminated structure includes a structural segment, an electrical segment, and a conductive insert. The structural segment includes multiple structural support layers in a stack. The electrical segment is next to the structural segment along a thickness of the laminate structure. The electrical segment includes an embedded conductive element sandwiched between a first dielectric ply and a second dielectric ply. The electrical segment includes a bus strip that is electrically connected to an electrical load. The embedded conductive element is electrically connected to the bus strip across the second dielectric ply. The conductive insert is loaded into a thru-hole defined through the stack of the structural support layers. The conductive insert is electrically connected to the embedded conductive element across the first dielectric ply and provides in-plane routing for an electrical circuit defined within the thickness of the laminate structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2023Publication date: July 17, 2025Applicant: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Michael Jason BAILEY, Matthew T. GREEN, Daniel B. FREEMAN, Richard LI

Publication number: 20250121943Abstract: A system and a method include a heating layer including perforations extending from a first surface to a second surface opposite from the first surface. The perforations provide acoustic paths. The heating layer is configured to provide electrically resistive heating to a component. An acoustic layer can be coupled to the heating layer. The perforations extend to the acoustic layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2023Publication date: April 17, 2025Applicant: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Richard Li, Ed Wen, Jeffrey Chambers, Michael Bailey, Matthew Green, Daniel B. Patent number: 11459124Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a splice component for joining two or more workpieces includes a base plate and one or more bias assemblies. The base plate includes one or more passageways extending through the base plate and one or more barrier elements mounted proximate to the passageway(s). Each barrier element and associated passageway are configured to freely receive a protrusion of a splice component. The bias assembly includes a bias element that extends proximate to the passageway and is configured to move resiliently to urge the protrusion against the barrier element. The passageway, the barrier element, and the bias assembly are configured to allow movement of the splice component relative to the base plate transverse to a direction of force applied by the bias element on the protrusion.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2020Date of Patent: October 4, 2022Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: David Howard Curry, III, David Raines, Scott L. Patent number: 10264385Abstract: An optimal listening position for the multi-channel audio sound system is determined. A listening area and other audio playback controls may also be defined or modified by a listener. During subsequent audio playback, an imager captures images of at least a portion of the listener. When the listener has moved to a position that is different from a previous position, one or more audio parameters are adjusted for at least one channel in the multi-channel audio system in order to reposition the initial or previous optimal listening position to the current position of the listener. When the listener moves outside the listening area, an out of bounds response is initiated to disable or control the audio playback until the listener moves to a position within the listening area.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2016Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Daniel B. Patent number: 7636446Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling auto-recovery of a digital audio amplifier after a short-circuit are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, a short-circuit is detected by both detecting a switching signal at an output of the digital audio amplifier and sensing a mute signal coupled to the digital audio amplifier. Once a short-circuit has been detected, a reset signal is provided to a reset input of the digital audio amplifier when the switching signal indicates that the digital audio amplifier is not switching and the mute signal indicates that the amplifier is in an un-muted state.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2004Date of Patent: December 22, 2009Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Skip T.
