    Abstract: A device for the machining of surfaces comprises a first housing unit (1), at which the device is to be supported, and a second housing unit (2), in which at least one tool holding fixture (9) for the grinding tool respectively polishing tool is rotatable mounted. The first and the second housing unit (1, 2) are joined with one another relatively rotatable to each other. Furthermore the device comprises a driving unit to drive the at least one tool holding fixture (9) and to drive the second housing unit (2) for rotation relative to the first housing unit (1). As a result of the superposition of the rotation of the individual tool holding fixtures with the rotation of the housing units, in which the tool holding fixtures are mounted, arise a better and faster machining result, a good superposition of the grinding marks and thus a symmetrical grinding pattern.

    Abstract: This device for the treatment of surfaces is specifically conceived as an addition to motor-driven hand tools. It includes a device mounting that can be installed securely in position on a housing component of a motorized driving unit in such a way as to be removable at will. The device also includes a tool mounting, which is designed specifically for an instrument that rubs and polishes surfaces. The device further includes a peripheral component, extending from the center, which is connected to the tool mounting in a manner such that the turning of the peripheral component, around a rotation axis, of this peripheral component sets the tool mounting in motion. The tool mounting is mounted in relation to the device mounting, in a manner such that it can be tilted, and a mechanism is envisioned, which will basically prevent the tool mounting from turning about on the rotation axis of the peripheral component, and which will simultaneously allow for the tilting of the tool reception.

For the purpose of multi-sided pivoting displacement of the axis of rotation (4) within a predetermined angular range (&agr;), the tool seat (1) rests pivotably in a holder (5) of the housing (2), the holder (5) including a shell (7) having an outer contour in the shape of a spherical segment and being pivotably received in an inner contour of a seat (8) also in the shape of a spherical segment. The drive system (3, 20, 19, 12) includes a pivoting ball-joint (6) coupling it to the tool seat (1) in order to drive the seat into rotation in every pivoted position.
