Abstract: The invention regards a method for calibrating a sample distribution apparatus for distribution of liquid samples (e.g. a hand held pipettor or a pipetting robot). The method comprises the steps of transferring a volume of liquid from the sample distribution apparatus to a container with a temperature sensor, measuring a first temperature value via, the temperature sensor, changing, the temperature of the liquid in the container, measuring a second temperature value via the temperature sensor, and determining from the first and second temperature values the volume of the liquid in the container.
