Patent number: 12254655Abstract: Computing devices, such as mobile computing devices, have access to one or more image sensors that can capture images and video with multiple subjects. Some of these subjects may vary in priority for various tasks. It may be desired to increase or decrease the compression on each subject in order to more efficiently store the image data. Low-power, fast-response machine learning logic can be configured to allow for the generation of a plurality of inference data. Inference data can be associated with the type, motion and/or priority of the subjects as desired. This inference data can be utilized along with other subject data to generate one or more variable compression regions within the image data. The image data can be subsequently processed to compress different areas of the image based on a desired application. The variably compressed image can reduce file sizes and allow for more efficient storage and processing.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2021Date of Patent: March 18, 2025Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Quang Le, Rajeev Nagabhirava, Kuok San Ho, Daniel Bai, Xiaoyong Liu

Publication number: 20240355353Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a magnetic recording head for magnetic media, such as a magnetic media drive. The head has a main pole, trailing shield, leading shield, first side shield, and second side shield. One side shield is electrically connected to the trailing shield and electrically disconnected from the leading shield. The other side shield is electrically connected to the leading shield and electrically disconnected from the trailing shield. The side shields are electrically connected through a hot seed layer and/or a nonmagnetic electrically conductive layer that is electrically disconnected from the main pole. Such an arrangement results in a current path from the trailing shield, through the side shields, around the main pole, and to the leading shield, which results in reduced resistance.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2023Publication date: October 24, 2024Applicant: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Muhammad ASIF BASHIR, Alexander GONCHAROV, Daniel BAI, Yunfei DING

Patent number: 11641520Abstract: Computing devices, such as mobile computing devices, have access to one or more image sensors that can capture images with multiple subjects. Some of these subjects may be known to the user capturing an image with the image sensor. The user may prefer to have the captured image data be optimized around the known subjects. Low-power, fast-response machine learning logic can be configured to allow for the generation of a plurality of inference data. This inference data can be utilized along with other sensor data, such as a motion sensor, for the generation of one or more image sensor configuration changes that may be implemented to optimize the subsequent capture of image data. This cycle of image data analysis, image sensor optimization, and subsequent capture can continue multiple times until a threshold of optimization or time is met. The captured image data optimized around the known subjects is then stored.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2022Date of Patent: May 2, 2023Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Quang Le, Rajeev Nagabhirava, Kuok San Ho, Daniel Bai, Xiaoyong Liu

Publication number: 20180204466Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for analyzing flights and identifying opportunities to provide flights to passengers that might not otherwise be made available. Benefits of these systems and methods may include filling more seats in aircraft that would otherwise go unfilled providing more flight opportunities to passengers as well as increasing opportunities to sell more flights for operators of the aircraft. For example, a charter operator might increase revenue through marketing automation and increased marketing reach they could otherwise not access themselves. Additionally, the system may provide tools for marketing and monetizing an operator's unused aircraft capacity. Additionally, the system may provide tools to move aircraft to areas where a demand will be, for example, by generating and selling flights that move the aircraft in that direction over the time leading up to the demand.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2017Publication date: July 19, 2018Inventors: Edward Crump, Daniel Bay, David Madaras, Haley Hebert

Publication number: 20020127727Abstract: A method of performing a determination of an item of interest in a sample using a single structure is disclosed. A sample is provided accessible to the single structure. A first container for processing the sample is placed in a first process path on the single structure. The sample is transferred to the first container in the first process path. A reagent is added to the first container in the first process path. Contents of the first container is mixed in the first process path. The item of interest in the sample is separated from the contents of the first container in the first process path. The separated item of interest in the sample is transferred from the first container in the first process path to a second container in a second process path on the single structure. Contents of the second container is brought to a first temperature different from a temperature of the first process path in the second process path. The item of interest in the second container is detected in the second process path.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2002Publication date: September 12, 2002Inventors: Mark C.
