  • Publication number: 20240136135
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments may terminate application of an electric pulse to a shape memory alloy (SMA) element that causes actuation of a medicament pump based on resistance values unlike conventional approaches that rely on a mechanical mechanisms to trigger termination of the application of the electric pulse. The magnitude of the resistance values, the rate of change (RoC) of the resistance values, the temperature of the SMA element, the time that has passed since initial application of the electric pulse to the SMA element, or combinations thereof may be used to trigger the termination of the application of the electric pulse to the SMA element in exemplary embodiments. The monitoring of the resistance of an unactuated SMA element may be used to determine when to initiate and when to terminate application of an electrical pulse to the other SMA element.

  • Patent number: 11952592
Abstract: Organs-on-chips are microfluidic devices for culturing living cells in micrometer sized chambers in order to model physiological functions of tissues and organs. Engineered patterning and continuous fluid flow in these devices has allowed culturing of intestinal cells bearing physiologically relevant features and sustained exposure to bacteria while maintaining cellular viability, thereby allowing study of inflammatory bowl diseases. However, existing intestinal cells do not possess all physiologically relevant subtypes, do not possess the repertoire of genetic variations, or allow for study of other important cellular actors such as immune cells. Use of iPSC-derived epithelium, including IBD patient-specific cells, allows for superior disease modeling by capturing the multi-faceted nature of the disease.

  • Patent number: 11900373
Abstract: A blockchain agnostic token network is described. In an example, a request to purchase a non-fungible token (NFT) minted on a blockchain from a seller is received. Based at least in part on context data associated with at least one of the user, the seller, or a digital asset associated with the NFT, a plurality of available blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Information associated with the plurality of blockchains is surfaced and one of the plurality of blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Based at least in part on the determined blockchain, the NFT is transferred to the determined blockchain and associated with a user account for subsequent viewing.

  • Publication number: 20230079908
Abstract: A first computing node of a system can receive sensor data about a physical environment. The first computing node can analyze the sensor data with a restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM) neural network to determine whether there is a fault condition in the physical environment, an identification of the fault condition being omitted from data used to train the RBM neural network. The first computing node can update the RBM neural network based on the sensor data to produce a first updated RBM neural network. The first computing node can send a first patch indicative of the first updated RBM neural network to a central server. The first computing node can receive, from the central server, information indicative of a second updated RBM neural network, the second updated RBM neural network being based on an aggregation of the first patch and of a second patch generated by a second computing node.

  • Publication number: 20230019194
Abstract: A system can initiate a training session for a neural network that comprises inputting first data to the neural network to facilitate training of the neural network, wherein use of the neural network increases an accuracy of performing a task associated with the neural network according to a defined accuracy criterion. The system can render a first visual representation of the neural network during the training session via a user interface associated with a virtual reality environment, and render a second visual representation of a possible unintended behavior of the neural network as a result of being trained based on the first data. The system can modify the neural network with respect to the second visual representation in the neural network of the possible unintended behavior in response to receiving second data indicative of a user input via the user interface, the modify resulting in a modified neural network.

  • Publication number: 20220288302
Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices and methods for causing the linear translation of a plunger through a reservoir containing a fluid. A flexible member, for example, a wire or a ribbon, is coupled to the plunger and extends through a wall of the reservoir toward which the plunger is being linearly translated. A pulling force on the flexible member caused by a drive mechanism causes the plunger to linearly translate toward the end wall of the reservoir, thereby forcing any fluid contained in the reservoir out of the reservoir through a fluid port.

  • Publication number: 20170225511
Abstract: A scooter wheel assembly consists of a rim which holds a tire and said rim having as its axial hole two tapers meeting at its mid-plane. The rim accepts two hub halves of which each is a frustum, such that clamping forces across the opposed conical surfaces of the pair of frusta firmly enforce concentricity between the axle and the rim and its tire. The rim and tire are connected to the axle exclusively by frictional coupling. Advantageously for changing a rim or tire, the hub parts can be quickly disassembled with common tools.

  • Publication number: 20070166685
Abstract: An approach for automated skills assessment over a network is provided herein. Test subjects request an evaluation session via a phone call, email exchange, instant message exchange, or facsimile transmission. An information capture system facilitates the evaluation session forwarding prompts to the test subject and forwarding responses to a processing system. Upon completion, the responses are stored along with the prompts and assigned a unique identifier. Assessors including humans and computer applications access the network through a data transfer system and receive the stored evaluation session. Assessments for each evaluation session are stored by the processing system for subsequent delivery to subscribers.

  • Patent number: 7043748
Abstract: A computer network comprising a plurality of nodes, each coupled to a DTE device comprising a computing system and a remotely located human interface, which includes a display and at least one I/O device. The DTE device computing systems are commonly located. Each DTE device includes an encoder coupled to the computing system, a decoder coupled to the display and the at least one I/O device, and a transmission line coupling the encoder and the decoder. The encoder receives, from the computing system, a video signal for transmission to the display and a non-video signal for transmission to the at least one I/O device, encodes the video and the non-video signals, and transmits the encoded signals to the decoder via the transmission line. The decoder receives the encoded signals, and decodes the video and non-video signals therefrom for respective propagation to the display and the at least one I/O device.

  • Publication number: 20060069785
Abstract: Systems and methods for opening and managing a window on a client computer system. In response to an action by the user transferring user information from the client to a server, code executes in the browser of the client to open and immediately hide a window on the client display, to generate a control cookie name, and to provide the cookie name to both the server and to the window code. The server subsequently determines whether the opened window will be displayed to the user or will be closed. The server creates a control cookie having the created cookie name and having a value that is either an identification of the content to be displayed in the window or an instruction to close the window. Code executing in the browser of the client interprets the cookie and takes the appropriate action.

  • Patent number: 6385666
Abstract: A system comprise a computing system and a human interface located remotely from the computing system. The human interface may comprise a display device and an input/output (“I/O”) device. The system may include a first interface device coupled to the computing system and a second interface device coupled to the display device and the I/O device of the human interface. The system may also include at least one transmission line coupling the first and second interface devices. The first interface device is operable to receive, from the computing system, a video signal to be transmitted to the display device and a non-video signal to be transmitted to the I/O device, and is operable to convert each of the video signal and the non-video signal into a format suitable for transmission to the second interface device. The converted video signal and the converted non-video signal may then be transmitted to the second interface device via the at least one transmission line.
