  • Publication number: 20140279993
Abstract: Systems and methods for clarifying a computer user's intent with regard to one or more query terms of a search query are presented. Often, one or more query terms of a search query are ambiguous and/or unclear. As presented herein, upon identifying a query term in the search query that is unclear, clarification data is obtained and presented to the computer user by way of a clarification user interface. The computer user is able to identify one or more aspects of the computer user's intent, intent clarifications, with regard to the query term through the clarification user interface. Upon instruction by the computer user, the search query, along with the intent clarifications, is submitted to a search engine and the search results obtained from the search engine are presented to the computer user.

  • Publication number: 20130191388
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for populating and/or animating a spatial visualization, such as a map, a timeline, and/or other 2D and/or 3D visual representations of locations. The spatial visualization may be populated with events extracted from a data source (e.g., real-time events, news events, social network events, etc.), and may include relationships between events (e.g., based upon time, location, contextual similarity (e.g., social network check-in events at a restaurant), events referencing one another (e.g., an article describing a first event may comprise a hyperlink to an article describing a second event) etc.). Filter criteria (e.g., date, event type, location, etc.) may be applied to events and/or relationships when populating the spatial visualization. A sequence of events and corresponding relationships may be animated within the spatial visualization (e.g., as the events unfold over a (user) designated period of time).

  • Publication number: 20130157234
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for constructing a storyline visualization. The storyline visualization may be constructed from one or more temporal documents (e.g., news stories having publication dates). The temporal documents may be organized into chapters, subchapters, and/or various storylines interconnected by branches. In this way, the storyline visualization may relate to a main story, which may branch into various storylines that respectively comprise one or more chapters. A user may be able to interactively explore the storyline visualization to understand the evolution of the main story (e.g., how a first storyline may have developed and/or be related to a second (developing) storyline). The storyline visualization may provide access to the underlying temporal documents. The storyline visualization may be presented as a timeline, a virtual storybook, a photo album, and/or other various visualizations.

  • Publication number: 20130060764
Abstract: Architecture that provides fully automatic generation of a geo-ontology and does not use pre-existing geo-ontologies or other location entity repositories (e.g., a licensed location). The architecture extracts the formal administrative structure of a geographical region of interest (e.g., country) (a geo-ontology of locations with attributes and relations) from a collection of entities with spatial attributes, extracts the informal administrative structure of a geographical region of interest (e.g., country) (informal administrative regions and names and informal neighborhoods and their attributes), and extracts location static rank features for all these entities (attributes used for ranking locations from the geo-ontology that appear in user queries).

  • Publication number: 20120016863
Abstract: Methods for enriching metadata associated with a document that is categorized in a document category are described. Documents are pre-categorized within a document category. Uniform resource locaters (URL) that are related to a document category are identified and linked to the document category. Indications of tokens and relationships between the tokens and the URLs are received. The tokens are linked to the URLs. The tokens are propagated to the document categories and to the documents therein based on linking between the token, URL, and document category. As such the document category, and documents therein, are provided with metadata that is descriptive thereof. The documents and their associated metadata tokens are useable to generate a searchable index of the documents. The linking between the tokens, URLs, and categories is also useable to identify tokens that are too specific, too general, or documents that are miscategorized.

  • Patent number: 4555043
Abstract: A spill-resistant container of deformable polymeric material is disclosed. The container includes a lid mountable in the container. A characterizing feature of the device resides in the provision of portions of the container surrounding the lid being inwardly deflectible into overlapping relation of the lid responsive to lateral, inwardly directed forces applied thereagainst. The invention includes a method of forming the container which involves applying a heat-sealable, heat-shrinkable membrane to portions of the container outwardly of the lid and thereafter causing the membrane to shrink, thus to deflect portions of the container into upwardly lapping relation of portions of the lid.

  • Patent number: 4555056
Abstract: A food package or the like comprises a receptacle and lid of resilient polymeric material, the lid and receptacle being snap-fittedly connected. A tamperproof membrane is bonded to the receptacle in covering relation of the lid whereby the lid may not be removed without prior removal of the membrane. All portions of the lid are encompassed within the confines of the receptacle whereby opening, as by inadvertent contact with the lid, is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4340138
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multiple compartment, multiple seal container particularly adapted for packaging plural portions of foods or the like. The device comprises a first container formed of polymeric material or the like and a second container adapted to nest within the first container. A lid member having a skirt extending into the second container provides a seal therefor. The lid and first container, and preferably also the second container, include flange portions disposed in coplanar alignment. A membrane, such as a cellophane membrane, is disposed in registry with the first container and is sealed to the lid and to the first container, and optionally also to the second container, along continuous seal lines, to provide a composite package including discrete compartments having multiple seals.
